Space planning in my opinion is used by all designers because evidently they need to know the concept, the end use, It is truely a science and you have to understand the symetrics of the space. This is the secret to ensure a space comes together in a meaningful and sustainable way. It's key to maximize what you have.

I think this Pilate's studio can be a good example of a retail space where they would have Pilate's Reformers lined up for a group of customers to practice the pilates exercise at the same time, all day, with different classes throughout the day. The space would be designed according to the needs of the Pilate's practitioner i mind. What do they need in the studio, reformers, instructor, a locker area, where to put the equipment, bathroom for use by customers, a locker room for employees, private sessions for individuals, etc
