As people's living spaces shift and change with the times, more and more people are opting not to have a large, traditional coffee table in the living room. Furniture companies are creating gorgeous alternatives, such as accent tables, end tables and ottomans that can stand in for the coffee table without losing functionality or aesthetic value. Here are a few ideas.

Accent tables usually come in more colors and design styles, giving you more flexibility and options to pick from. As a general rule, accent tables should be 12 to 18 inches in front of the sofa for leg clearance. Perfect for: Studios and intimate apartment spaces.
