Modernism-cesca chair: Cesca chairs were chairs that showcased a new era of modern technology and design. Contemporarily they give attention and precision to a room. They are often designed in a more simple yet practical nature, giving ode to the original idea. The modern chair does not stray too far away from originality, but they are definitely more practical and prominent than ever when simply designed.
Arts and crafts-bungalow: The idea with the bungalow as my takeaway in the lecture was to provide stability and affordability in an era where financial crisis was amidst. Modernly, the bungalow is still on the smaller side, but uses more symmetrical architecture. These bungalows are comparable in their idea and function, however contemporarily the new styles play off on the new age style of gray toned scale color, horizontal and vertical rooms, and usage of different materials.
English renaissance-half timber: this dining space showcases the two toned wood coloring of half timber. The light wood contrasts with the white paneled wood and storage shelf. Half timber interior design is not as popular due to the movement of simple and minimalistic demand, however this dining area shows that anything can still look modern if you use the right mindset.
Rococo-bureau plat: the bureau plat was used as a work desk in the rococo era. This slim desk is similar in the way it is being used. The design is modern, but the wood paneling, chairs, and decor have a vintage influence. This desk reminded of the bureau plat through its design and structure. It can be used as a desk, but there is also storage and length of space. Just like the bureau, this desk is practical and efficient for what it needs to do.
Gothic-lancet windows: Lancet windows were common in the gothic era specifically in churches due to their closer to God motto. Contemporarily, these windows give immense lighting, view, and temperature regulation to this home. They do not represent their original representation, but they bring elegance and beauty to any home.
Greece-stools: Greece had stools that were used for easy access. The stools folded down, and were easy to carry. Stools now can come with backs or no backs. This picture represents the similarities of the folded stools of Greece and modern idea. The stools here and made with wood and maybe some steel, while the ones in Greece were mainly leather and steel. The lack of backing on this stool long with the height seemed to be a perfect example of modern movement in interior furniture.
Victorian-artwork: I see The layout, framing, chandelier, and utilities inspired by the Victorian Era. The shaping of the walls to frame the different sections of each area give it a modern spin, however the color and ivory designs of the sink and bath showcase an antique inspiration. The artwork has worn out shading and color you would see on worn down antique pieces, which set the mood for the period. The candles bring timed energy into the room while still maintaining a bright and airy environment.
