The grid style of the slate

I like the look of the stone area, the wood bench (though I think a stone one is easier to maintain longterm) and the different areas.

What would it be like ot have the pea gravel for our patio? Is that considered "pervious" so it doesn't ocunt for impervious ground cover?

Another example of the way there is a space but it's not solid and leads to another space.

The way the patio is extended with the 12x12 slate and river rock. Could that be a path to the firepit area?

This is the pond at Glenstone. I love the fact that it is a mini, self-sustaining ecosystem and that you can see it from all parts of the interior. If we can figure out a way to capture this feeling in the outdoor backyard landscaping I would love that.
