Design History

Art Nouveau- This is an example of contemporary art nouveau design because it is completely inspired by nature and feminism. There are a lot of natural elements such as that of the peacock and there are a lot of curved lines from the plants/flowers.

Arts and Crafts- This is an example of arts and crafts contemporary design due to the furniture which appear to be handcrafted. The chair is representative of the arm chair and the table incorporates wood with virtually no screws.

Victorian- This is an example of contemporary victorian design due to the sofa which is an example of parlor furniture due to the button tufting.

Neoclassical- This is an example of contemporary neoclassical design due to the symmetry, order, and simplicity of the space. The back of the chairs are also straight and simple which resembles that of the neoclassical period.

Rococo- This is an example of contemporary rococo design due to the furniture which incorporates modern versions of the Canapé (sofa) and Bureau Plat (writing table).

Egypt- This is an example of contemporary Egyptian design due to the columns which have motifs designed on top of them. In between the columns are also more designs/motifs which seem to resemble the lotus flower.

English Renaissance- This is an example of contemporary English Renaissance design as there is a lot of strapwork on the ceilings similar to that of the tudor rose which are representative of English design. The furniture is also elaborate with intricate carvings with exposed wood.

Gothic- This is an example of Gothic design due to the pointed arches, rib vaults, and lancet windows. The high ceilings also resemble Gothic design as they believe the higher the ceilings the closer to God.

Rome- This is an example of contemporary Roman design because of the barrel vault (curved arches) which connects one space to another.

Greece- This is an example of design inspired by the Greece period as the pillars used are doric pillars which are a prime example of the Greece design. The lounge chairs are also similar to that of the klismos Chair as they are elegant and slightly curved-back.
