I've been thinking about something similar to this for counters--mixing the types and maybe using a hardwood top for the island.
I like the large bins/drawers in the bottom of the pantry.
Plastic bag cubbie next to the wastebins is clever.
Not bad idea for utensil storage.
Mesh-front is an interesting idea for potatoes, etc.
Interesting idea for lids and pots.
The uniformity of the cabinets on the left is nice, without feeling too monolithic.
Having two depths also works well, especially with having the continuous pieces on the far left (see previous photo).
I like the clean and open look of this. The darker cabinet wood goes well with the flooring, and even though I'm not crazy about white counters I think it keeps the room bright and airy here.
The two "columns" helps balance out the space better than one giant one.
This could be used to modify cheaper cabinets.
Shelving on either side of the hood.
Hood and wooden shelving.
Undercabinet outlet strips. Means you don't need to pick where outlets go and you don't mess up the backsplash.
I want to avoid seeing outlets like this under the counter in the seated area. I think another undercabinet strip is good for this side, but we still need something for the 'cooking' side of the island.
A popup outlet could work, though I'm not honestly crazy about having something installed like this in the countertop.
These would work, but they're ugly.
Slightly less ugly...
Something like this could be used to achieve the uniformity we're talking about on the north wall cabinets.
