The large space broken up by features is nice. I realize this is not how we can design our house because we would lose too much square footage having a two-story living area but if the living space is on the top and we have a shed or butterfly type roof it may create a more open feeling which this design speaks to.

Justin: I'm liking this but not loving it. I think the ceiling is too busy. The rectangular stone feature on the fireplace is nice. The floors are interesting and help brighten the room. The dark accents of the ceiling beams are a good contrast. I like the stone of the fireplace

Justin: This is a nice house. Maybe a little too modern for my tastes but still beautiful. You can see pictures of the entire house by clicking on the "West Vancouver Residence" title.

Wendy: For some reason this caught my eye. I am hard pressed to say more than that. It is a bit too white. I like the beams.

If we could live in an old factory, with lofted ceilings and exposed beans, brick and ductwork I would be a pretty happy camper. That being said, I realize it may not be the best way to design our house in Seattle but I'm trying to give you a sense of what I find esthetically pleasing. I think that they made this work.

Justin: I never considered a circular staircase but it's an interesting thought. I like the windows near the staircase to allow as much light as possible into the house

Justin: Again, I like the wood wall accent. I also like how it goes with the darker wood bar.

Justin: I really like the flow of this. How the openings create the feel of open space. The colors and everything else are just ok.

Justin: I definitely like this exposed girder and the railings match it well. Obviously we can't have the high ceiling and open living space which adds to this and, for me, offsets the exposed steel industrial look. But again, I like the esthetics of the industrial look.

Justin: I like the esthetics of this. It's probably too masculine for Wendy. I also like the fireplace oriented in more than one direction. It has a little too much flat white surface for my taste though.
