BaseHouzz2
Every adventure relies on a home base. Especially as a child, one wants to know there is a place of comfort and safety to rely upon.Children want to seek adventure, but only do so knowing they’ve a ‘home base’to return to… one that serves as the known and comforting.
The quintessential childhood sketch of a home serves as fuelfor the BaseHouzz2. The sketch focuses on the notion of home as understood…gable form, front porch, door, window, chimney, and a lemon yellow sun. This isthe known, what the child relies upon. The playhouse abstracts the sketch intoa modern interpretation composed of the main elements children comprehend. Form+placeare emphasized. Inside the playhouse, the chimney serves as a stack to aid airmovement as well as providing a seated nook… the seat extends into shelving anda blackboard area. An additional blackboard area is on the interior side of the‘sun panel.’ These areas encourage drawing and planning for the child’sadventure. Windows open in the rear corner to serve as a place to obtain‘adventure/mission’ directives or to check-in upon returning from an adventure.
It’s envisioned that neighborhoods be filled with similar BaseHouzz’s, each with slight variations and names, but overallsharing the same simple idea of home present in every child’s early sketch of home.
