The Adventure Zone “Playhouse”– The Space which promotes pretendplay, imaginative play, personal reading nook, gross and fine motor skillexploration spaces and much more.
The design concept is an exploration of the cuboid form bycreating a spatial feeling of double height and volume along with spacesreflecting the coziness which appeals to children. The adventurous mindedchildren look for different ways to play with the same toys and within samespaces.
Keeping that in mind, I have tried to design this spacewhich provides ample opportunities for not just the regular fun activities asclimbing ladders, sliding and swinging but also having access to a lookout post,a camping cabin, a quiet place to hang out with friends or read a book. Thereis a sloped wavy floor to glide over or roll those toy cars, a fun magnet wallto play with shapes – letters and act as a story board play area. Another funelement is the pin art wall which amazes kids of all ages having fun exploringvarious possibilities of creating three dimensional shapes of hands, faces,toys and more. There are sensor activated light up stepping stones for childrento hop on and have fun making up different games.
The type of construction for the structure is regular wood frame,the floor finish is wood textured laminate and all the openings would havefixed transparent tempered glass or Plexiglas. The open flap is a drop downdoor and the posts with swing are modular. The overall design is made to fitwithin prescribed dimensions of 8’ 0” Height, 7’ 6” Width and 8’ 6” Length.
