"IMAGINATIVE PLAY"...A gender-neutral playhouse that utilizes a FLEXIBLE SPACE (with movable and stackable interior elements) to stimulate the FIVE SENSES and foster PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, and SELF AWARENESS. At IMAGINATIVE PLAY, the child's MIND dictates the ADVENTURE, not the playhouse.
Key Design Features:
1.) Movable and stackable multi-functional interior furniture encourages physical activity and imaginative play. Space(s) can be created. Role playing for a tea party or a classroom can be set up. The main table can be used for simple board games, an arts & crafts station, or a bed. The different sized cubes can be used as seats or as storage bins. The three interior wall partitions have casters for easy positioning. The interior partition surfaces are also have a dry-erase coating that converts the partitions into dry-erase boards for school play or just plain sketching. The open framed furniture piece is ideal for a front door stoop.
2.) An openable rear door allows an otherwise private playhouse destination to increase the interior play area while blending interior and exterior space. With the rear door in the open position, the interior space can serve as a stage for a play, a musical performance stage, or a kid's yoga studio. The rear door in the open position can also serve as a cover for an outdoor picnic.
3.) An interior ladder and an exterior fire pole encourage physical activity.
4.) A multitude of windows and the clear roof combined with ceiling cut-outs allow plenty of natural sunlight into the interior space. The windows and cutout-outs also provide an awareness of the weather. The height variations in the windows lets the surrounding environment to be explored at different heights and unique views.
5. The playhouse structure has an integrated passive cooling system. Air enters the air inlets in the roof assembly on the low side at the rear, the air then flows through continuous cavities in the roof assembly and finally exits through air escapes that are integrated into a low profile horizontal canopy element on the front wall.
6.) "V-Man". An abstract Vitruvian Man composed of basic geometric shape cut-outs in the ceiling introduces a celestial play of light and shadows. V-Man serves as an early introduction to art and architectural history.
7.) An abstract tree offset from the right side façade, provides mental stimulation and complements the interior play of light and shadows.
8.) Perforations in the low window on the left side façade allows the transfer of sound which encourages dual role playing: a restaurant drive-thru window, a bank teller window, or customer service window.
9.) Nooks on the interior side of the main wall converts the walls into activity walls. Nooks can serve as storage or display shelving. A magnetic wall nook can serve as a magnetic tic-tac-toe board. Another nook is backed with a mirror - it can be a mere self -reflection mirror or a beauty station.
