The spirited but gentle Kaleidoscopic Turtle will be able to transport a suburban backyard to all manner of majestic lands and tropical seas as far as a child’s imagination can travel. Iconic of the Galapagos Islands, the giant tortoise has symbolized great adventure since English naturalist Charles Darwin’s expedition around the world to study the wonders of the animal world. Fabricated from durable but rounded materials,this delightful PlayHouzz fashions the turtle's protective shell as a haven for young dreamers with brightly colored portals, cozy alcoves, and enough space for friends.


The shell’s construction is a variation on the geodesic dome or space frame. Kaleidoscopic facets form several hexagonal panels where natural light seeps into the shelter between central clear Plexiglas windows surrounded by prismatic panels of colored Plexiglas. The remaining hexagons of the tortoise shell, made from weatherproof canvas stretched over the frame to eliminate foot- and toe-holds, deter climbing. The shell is supported by a cushioned but rigid base resembling friendly reptile face, legs and tail.


While children play on the inside the interior will be glittering with the kaleidoscopic effect as the colors shift from warm yellows, reds, and oranges to cool blues and purples throughout the day. Underneath the raised platforms of the interior are niches to relax in and cubbies to hide toys, children’s books, and other treasures.
