It is not a coincidence that the design of the Get out ofthe box – Playhouse has ambiguous meanings. First of all, it is preciselyinside a box shape where the project is defined. The way of getting out of thissolid box shape is by its inscribed voids. Another ambiguous meaning is foundin the circulation which is unclear in spite of the material’s clear properties.
This is relative to the way we are used to try to solveproblems, or to find a creative solution. Many times we lose a good approachbecause we are enclosed in preconceived learning experiences and look for ouranswers around old or exhausted learning. Adventure as well as creativity isthe desire to discover and to start a new journey, a new approach to theunknown and where the discovering is the answer.
In the playhouse the path is not clearly defined since thetransparent/translucent material does not let the user figure out the way fromthe outside. The user needs to go for the journey and discover it, step by step. The look for the unknown will lead the journey, children will have theopportunity to interact/think/ and choose how they will have their experiencethrough the playhouse paths and compartments. All over the path to the lastcompartment there is change of heights and widths in order to inspirechildren’s learn to solve their ways through. The aim is to promote children’screativity, to resolve and get used to overcome obstacles in an unstressed environmentand at his/her own pace.
Another reason to have a clear material is for safety sincethe playhouse is mostly enclosed, the parents will be able to see theirchildren when they are in the playhouse. The material proposed is fiberglassand it can be totally transparent or have a frozen-look as long as the pathsare blurry and not readable from the outside. For safety, two exit openings canlead the way out of the playhouse on the opposite faces of the entry void andalso a connection from the last compartment to the entry.
There is a sustainable feature that may be added to theplayhouse, the optional use of small LED sun energy light absorbers is proposedin order to have a similar inspirational experience at night. Light fixtures will operate only with sunlightenergy absorbed during daytime; therefore the location of the play house willneed to be outdoors. Other different lighting fixtures can be used if theplayhouse will be located indoors. The sparkles of light would only be locatedon the last compartment. These sparkles can be used as inspirational featurethat can be enjoyed from inside as well as from the outside of the playhouse.

This playhouse is inspired in the adventurous and uncertain ways that creativity involves. Children will find their way to the Main and last compartment by following the voids, the material is translucent and has two functions: 1) To initiate an adventurous journey to discover it and 2) Safety for parents who will immediately realize that children are on the playhouse. All over the path to the last compartment there is change of heights and widths to inspire children’s creativity to learn to solve their ways through. Lights of sparkle at night can be introduced by using PV LED sun light absorbents.
