IMAGINATION STATION
Catching the breeze on a beautiful morning, as the aroma of honeysuckle flutters by, on the ”ledge”, sets the mood for great adventures.
Climbing up a mountain on the steep side could be an option today.
Once at the top, looking down from the castle, we can see armies approach the edge of the village forcing us to take cover till they pass.
Enemies have gone, but coming out is not an option. Riding out a storm takes us through rough waters and breaking winds.
Calm nights have arrived and now a trip into space can be enjoyed from the roof top or by looking through the skylight on the “lofty steps”.
These and may more adventures can be lived within the “Imagination Station”.
I designed this house thinking clean, simple open spaces, that can be enjoyed in every corner of this house. You are not limited to one entry, but to as many as you can find. You can climb in, swing in, crawl into, or fall into. The proposed materials are wood, corrugated metal, ropes, Plexiglas, and custom built windows. To reduce cost the windows can be fixed. If so the house is still able to stay fresh and have continuous air flow with the openings available. The flooring can be ply wood, outdoor carpet, or cushioned foam material for better comfort and still easy to clean (flooring used on gyms or garage floors). Everything is very simple to open, with hinges that can lock or soft close. Even in rainy or cold weather the house can be enjoyed since it can be fully enclosed. The design of the house was also based on being able to add attachments such as a slide, more swings, or a rope climbing wall, the possibilities are endless. Kids can play morning to night or even use as a getaway to do homework and enjoy the peaceful and quiet outdoors.

This is a view with the 3 different positions the door can be placed and create 3 different spaces.
