DIY Adventure Playhouse

The Adventure Playground Movement first began in the aftermath of WWII, when "junk playgrounds" started popping up across Europe. Children were reclaiming abandoned lots and using the rubble of the war to build play spaces of their own. Adults began noticing that the imaginative structures children built on their own were often better than anything an architect could dream up.

Inspired by the Adventure Playground Movement, the "DIY Adventure Playhouse" is a space that can be built, taken apart, reshaped, and reimagined. With a sturdy timber frame and a toolkit of build-able loose parts like ropes, carabiners, and mounted eye bolts, stackable milk crates, interconnecting builder boards, and pool noodles & connectors, this house is a template to build and rebuild the playhouse of your dreams.

Entered on behalf of Playground Ideas, an international non-profit organization that equips anyone, anywhere to build a stimulating space for play using only local materials, tools, and skills.
