home theater room

interesting way to do graduated seating so that whole floor sections don't need to be elevated.

look at the ceiling!!

very very cool beams on the walls. wonder if we could do something a little less rustic and more to match how the upstairs living room looks with its beams and ceiling.

kind of like this floor layout.

very cool design

A bit kitschy, but brings a little more flavor to an otherwise bland space. Like the idea of "stars" in the ceiling. Kind of like the Tinkerbell "fireworks" lights above the beds in the Disneyland Hotel.

Again, more of a living room feel, but eliminates need for a graduated floor.

Interesting idea.

This demonstrates the decision-making that needs to be done in our space. Do you want a real "Theater" feel or a big living room with a very large screen? The graduated floor issue will need to be addressed.

Or go a little more modern. Need to be very careful with acoustics thought.

This could be more of the design that we are looking for and how to deal with not having a graduated floor. Not sure how fun it would be to swivel in those chairs and watch a movie though.

This is insanely over the top, but like the idea of the floor lighting. Wonder if we should do something like this around the edges of the walls in Tahoe?

interesting mod design.

blackout drapes are still letting in light.

Interesting bar idea.

Note: no windows. Also, note sound absorption sections on walls.
Q
Photo
the home theater designer recommends 10 feet from screen and sometimes more.

This is very yucky -- but note that even with the shades, there is light coming through the windows around edges.
Q

note that there are no windows. And floor is stepped. Also note lots of speakers around.
