About Us

AZD Associates, Inc. - Architects is an award winning architectural firm dedicated to providing creative site and client sensitive designs for both new and renovated, custom residential and commercial projects. Kevin Akey brings extensive design and construction experience to each of their projects. Established in 1990, the dedicated eleven-person firm provides a full scope of architectural planning and interior design services from their Bloomfield Hills, Michigan office. AZD Associates, Inc. is currently working on both residential and commercial designs that are diverse in scale, site complexity and architectural design styles. They have an extensive portfolio of work throughout the country, including works throughout Michigan, Ohio, California, Colorado and Ontario. While the elements of each individual project may vary, AZD Associates, Inc. insists upon innovative, quality design and detailing throughout all of their creations. By being receptive to the client and responding to their needs and desires, they dynamically integrate each project to its environment as the creative process evolves into reality.

Have worked with Kevin throughout my current build, using him mostly as a consultant. This guy is amazing! He has great ideas, is insanely responsive, and has zero ego. My only regret is that I did not start with him before my build. There is always next time.

Kevin has been an absolute delight to work with right from the very first meeting. When we decided to build a home, we sought him out because of so many of the homes we liked over the years turned out to be designed by him. He has been an excellent guide throughout the process which helps in more ways than you can imagine - an especially important factor for novices like us. We can't wait to have the project completed so we can move in and enjoy it!

We have worked with the AZD team over the last 9 months to design a contemporary lake home. Currently we are in the latter portion of the design/construction drawing phase, and have enjoyed this process. First: The AZD office is in a convenient location with ample parking. Second: The employees are courteous and helpful. Third: Kevin has an upbeat manner. Communication is always easy & prompt. Fourth: Kevin and his team are beyond creative and talented. Fifth: Multiple design options for are presented for consideration. Six: Kevin's resources are extremely knowledgeable professionals in their field. Thank you AZD for making the journey fun!
