Ayr Custom Cabinetry

We had planned to peruse various cabinet possibilities in various towns "for fun" on a cold February day here in Northern Indiana. We passed Ayr's on our way into one of the towns we had planned to visit . . .it was our first, and only, stop! Not only were we taken by the quality of craftsmanship in the show room (which was under construction at the time), but we were able to peruse various styles. We saw "our cabinets" in the second room we entered . . .and knew that we were going to do an unplanned kitchen. Designer James Yoder was available to meet us, and we made plans to meet in our kitchen to get an idea of what we could do. James put us in contact with an excellent flooring company, who in turn put us in contact with an excellent contractor. Voila! We had our team. We decided to do the kitchen during four months that we had planned to be far away. James provided us with preliminary and detailed plans within a couple of weeks, and added items to our vague ideas that showed a quick perception, timely communication, practicality and a refined sense of balance and design. Off we went . .. to a location 2500 miles away. We left a key for the team, they came and went, sent updates and photos, and finished a breathtaking kitchen prior to our return . . right on time! The centerpiece of the kitchen is the cabinetry, high quality, well mastered and simply beautiful. A friend who works on kitchen design stopped by to see the cabinetry, and her words were: "I have seen much cabintry in my career; (James) knocked this one out of the park. Did I leave the impression that we are thrilled with our cabinets and kitchen? I hope so!

I cannot speak highly enough about Ayr Cabinets. We have done 3 kitchens with them over 20+ years and you would think there would have been some issue that happens over the course of 3 projects. Not one issue. Their attention to detail is phenomenal. The entire process, from our first conversation to installation, was a pleasure. Our most recent kitchen was installed in Colorado, and Dana Miller at Ayr was on top of it all. His communication and promptness were exemplary. There are a lot of design and function questions in kitchen cabinets and they have it down pat. When the cabinets arrived in Colorado they were perfect! As was the case with our previous 2 kitchens. Crafted by people who clearly take pride in what they make, the cabinets are gorgeous. It seems that today, in a big box world, things are being made more and more cheaply. This is not the case with Ayr-- their quality, attention to detail, and care in customer satisfaction continue to impress. Big thanks to Dana who made the entire process, start to finish, a dream.

The quality of these cabinets is remarkable. They are solid construction with a eye catching look. The help in designing them was very good plus the people who installed them were professional in there workmanship. You may pay a little more but the difference in quality is major. Annette

I found Ayr through the Houzz app. I am very happy with the results of this project. Dana, the designer, designed my kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. He did a great design, was very accommodating and easy to work with. He is now working on a design for my living room.

After buying our house, we wanted to refresh the kitchen. We recognized the excellent Amish craftsmanship and thought "it's worth a shot!". We sent emails with pictures to all cabinet builders in Nappanee, and, lo and behold, Ayr wrote back "We built that one, 45 years ago". Wow, we thought! Dana Miller became our companion on a winding journey to a great end result. We brainstormed the various options we had and ended up replacing a monstrous gas range with an elegant, multifunctional cabinet and induction cooktop. As Ayr still had the old plans, they could make the cabinet 100% fitting with the rest of the kitchen. Dana worked with us through both our ideas and the requirements for the downdraft we had to install which included a faux back and non-standard drawers. I'm not sure how often we had to revise before we finally could go into production - but Dana was patiently at our side. The installation was an act of art in itself. For example, when hitting a snag (the wall behind the gas stove was a tick crooked), it was not a big deal. The carpenter who fitted the piece into the corner was marvelous. One could see the decades of experience he brought to the job. Now the cabinet fits like the hand into a glove, it looks and feels better than I had dreamed it would, it has all the features I wanted it to have. Each time I cook - and that's at least once a day - I am so happy ... the look of the cabinet, the craftsmanship, the functionality, the quality of the drawers and doors ... a 10 our of 5.

Ayr Cabinet Co. stands out in a world where there are fewer and fewer artisans and quality craftsmen (and women) who care about getting every single detail right. They also enjoy doing things that show off their skill and expertise. I dealt with Dana Miller for a creative kitchen remodel. He was a pleasure to work with (even my interior designers agreed) and I am thrilled with the beautiful, one-of-a-kind kitchen they made for me. I highly recommend their installers as well. Everything was well worth the money I paid. How I wish all the people who worked on my home remodel were this good and as professional. I would have less gray hairs!

2nd time working with James Yoder at Ayr went amazing. He worked with me hand-in-hand on design and installation on the whole house remodel from kitchen, pantry, laundry, fireplaces bars, and bathrooms. Every aspect of it was performed amazingly. Working with James Yoder and his team at Ayr Cabinet was a total joy. The cabinet builders and installers are true craftsmen. I loved watching them transform our kitchen from a bare room to the kitchen of my dreams. Their attention to detail is just something we don't experience enough anymore. James had the ability to really understand how the layout drawings would actually function and communicated the possible "gotchas" so that the kitchen would function even better in real-life than I could envision when choosing cabinet placement and available inserts for each cabinet. The "magic corner cabinet has made our previous dead-space totally functional. The insides of the cabinets are as beautiful as the exteriors. “Ayr Cabinet Company” During the year 2021 my wife and I decided to upgrade the two bathrooms in the upper story of our home in Valparaiso, Indiana. We have lived in this house for over 25 years, so the work was due (if not a bit overdue). During the planning sessions for the Master Bath, our contractor suggested that we become familiar with the work of Ayr Cabinetry in Nappanee, Indiana. After looking through their showroom, my wife found a brown maplewood setting with a “Decorator White” finish which she pretty much fell in love with the first time she saw it. Almost immediately, she decided that this was the type of cabinetry she’d love to have in our new master bath. Everything about the design was precision crafted and the overall impression given was that the folks who built this unit were pros with a Capital “P”. James Yoder took the time to sit with us and make modifications to this design so that it exactly fit the space we had available and met the requirements we had established with our contractor. For instance, Mr. Yoder helped us to design a “vanity corner” which turned out to be a beautiful addition to the space. This scrupulous attention to detail was one reason working with this firm was so extremely satisfying. The custom cabinets took a while to build, but the high level of quality and the durable components utilized made the wait very easy to endure. The cabinets themselves, the stylish mirror which came with that particular setting, and the stunning custom light fixture which also is part of the design are all equally pleasing to behold. The doors and drawers in the unit are the smoothest operating devices we have yet to encounter. It was indeed a pleasure to work with Mr. Yoder throughout this process. He is extremely knowledgeable, considerate, collaborative, creative, and friendly. We were very satisfied with every aspect of our experience. We would rate this endeavor as being extremely worthwhile and we would wholeheartedly recommend that people in the market for cabinets take the time to become familiar with this terrific company.
