Custom Design Group exceeded my expectations. After an experience from another contractor went significantly wrong, Barry was very understanding, and in many instances went above and beyond not only in the permit procedures, but in helping arrange furniture moving, changes in needs and in the overall project. He and his team were efficient and build an amazingly beautiful second story deck and stairs for us. Absolutely recommend them to anyone.

We are incredibly happy with our deck. We were replacing a current deck and also expanding it and the whole thing fits perfectly and looks like it has always been that way. They were professional and paid attention to detail. We wish we had done it a few years earlier. We have already recommended them to other friends who have been over and talked about how much they like the deck.

Barry was also very proactive at taking care of any product color issues proactively without us having to ask. You can tell he really cared about getting the deck project right. Thanks to his experience he was able to resolve any issue that came up along the way. Barry communicated well throughout the project which was appreciated since we live out of state. The Custom Design Group team are some of the nicest and most diligent professionals and artisans I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. From start to finish, Barry was considerate and punctual for keeping us updated of the timeline until our project start date, including any extensions for the intense weather we had, and once construction began, the team was fast, efficient, and precise. We upgraded an aging wooden deck to Trex and reworked the sizing and the staircase access down to it from our upper level, and everything about it turned out beautifully. The new lighted and closed-faced stairs are perfect for our unstoppable adventure toddler and the wide-open layout for the deck itself is going to be perfect for hosting friends and the lighted edging will allow safe and easy on-and-off access from the yard in addition to looking lovely. I am absolutely over the moon with the work that Barry, Meghan, and Nick did. You could not ask for a better team of people.

Our finished product turned out great! We had one rail that was a little off and Barry replaced it no problem. Once things got underway the project was completed in a timely manner. Barry was very good at communicating and giving us updates as to what would be coming next since we were always at work while deck/patio was underway. Overall we are pleased with both the deck and patio.

If you can dream it, Barry and Meg can build it! Barry's experience, creativity, and problem solving skills kept this project on time and on budget. He offered some suggestions and I am glad I listened--His ideas actually saved me money. Trex is a quality product that requires quality installation and CDG did not disappoint. They kept the work site tidy and safe each day. My deck is now a sanctuary and neighbors have "deck envy." It most definitely increased my property value--but who would want to move now? Thanks team!

Barry Fate and his daughter Meghan recently constructed a beautiful deck at our place of residence. Their assistance in planning and laying out the project was very helpful. Their workmanship, together with the knowledge they have from their years and experience of working together, resulted in the construction of a deck that was more than we could have hoped for. They worked in a timely manner and were willing to make any modifications we wanted. In all it was an enjoyable experience through out the whole project. We had a deck and brick patio added to our lake home this summer, and it turned out fantastic! It's an extension of our home and adds wonderful entertaining and outdoor space that we were really missing out on prior to the install. The quality of the craftsmanship is exceptional and communication and professionalism were outstanding. Can't recommend highly enough. We sought an established local craftsman to rebuild our large, multi-leveled outdoor deck. Barry, owner of Custom Design Group, has 30 years of experience as a deck builder and does all the design-work and building himself. His portfolio illustrates dozens of designs and specialty projects he has completed. He utilizes the highest quality of decking material, all of which is pre-selected and identified by the home-owner. He provided us with a time-line 3 months in advance of our project date and stuck to it. Our old deck foundation proved to be unstable and Barry rebuilt it all within a few days of our time-line. Most importantly, Barry is a delight to work with and his craftsmanship is excellent. My wife and I are extremely satisfied with how his deck design and high quality work has added pleasure and value to our home.

We were very pleased with the work of Custom Design Group on our Trex composite deck. We have a tricky landscaping layout where the deck was to be built, and met with Barry several times during the planning process. We had an idea of what we wanted, and he was able to take our ideas and create this fabulous deck that we now can't imagine not having. Barry has a lot of experience and is very knowledgeable about the products he uses, such as the Trex composite. He is also very kind and professional, and strives for excellent customer service. It was a joy to have him, as well as Meghan and Nick, around while they were completing our project and the job was completed in a timely manner. My husband and I interviewed several contractors to build us a deck and none stood out like Custom Design Group. We were impressed with Barry's creative ideas. A deck to last a lifetime! And the quality is unmatched. Barry started in February by shoveling mountains of snow to clear the ground so he could an early start, then he continued through the cold and finally a little warmth just to be done before the deadline as he promised. the quality of my deck is amazing right down to the details. I could not have had a better deck-building experience. He and his crew exceeded my expectations. Barry is clearly among the best in the business.

I hired the Custom Design Group, Barry and his partner (his daughter) to design and build a deck on the back of my home. The dimensions were 33' x 19'. Approximately 2' high of the existing patio. Custom Design Group's layout was better, imaginative and well thought out, but he also listed to everything my wife and I wanted in a deck. I had waited 14 years to do this and wanted it done right. I wanted no maintenance and Barry suggested Trex as the material that would be warrantied for 25 years and be maintenance free. He was right! The color combinations were outstanding and the deck was everything I was hoping for. I had contacted two other contractors, but they were not as professional in their presentation nor as knowledge of building decks. Custom Design Group was the best decision. They competed it it the time frame they quoted and it was exactly what my wife and I were anticipating. I can't possible describe just how happy we are with their work. If you want a deck; call Barry.
