My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

About Us

Base Camp Design is a full service interior design firm in Sandpoint, ID, experienced in everything from new build construction to simple room refreshes. We work closely with architects, builders, contractors, furniture makers, and artisans to create unique spaces that are client friendly and speak to your specific needs. Our design philosophy is based on the belief that homes should be comfortable and livable while at the same time beautiful and curated. Our style mixes old with new, integrating textures and color, layered with pieces that feel travelled and have history. An intrinsic love of vintage furniture and materials that feature raw and natural textures balanced with our knowledge of the most current industry sources come together to create spaces that feel interesting, practical and effortless.

I had no idea how challenging it was to find a designer with whom I felt in sync. Kate Lyster not only is knowledgeable and helpful but it’s her sense of artistry that made her stand above all others. She made the process as enjoyable as a remodel can be while living in it We love our home and can thank Base Camp for making it a place that puts its arms around us. Thrills us ever day to wake up in our sacred space of a home Thanks Kate!

I started working with Kate and her team in June of 2020 on a new build (my forever home). From our first conversation I realized how amazing Kate is, she listened to what my expectations were and what I was hoping to achieve. She is extremely detailed oriented and her time management skills are impeccable. She is able to take your design aesthetic and work with you to produce amazing results. She has an expansive vision and doesn't just work with one specific style like many designers. She works to make your vision come to life, she listens to the client and incorporates your wishes/needs and pairs that with her knowledge to come up with an amazing well curated design. I honestly could not have done this project without Kate and her team.

Kate and the Base Camp team are absolutely excellent at what they do! Kate is a great listener, hard and timely worker with fantastic communication skills. She pays attention to all the details so I don't have to and would highly recommend her.

Kate does an amazing job! she is very precise and very Detailed orientated. she's very easy to work with And very thorough on explaining what she wants done she doesn't skip corners very professional and has no problem Communicating between home owners and tradesmen, which makes the job comfortable and easy very enjoyable to work with. I would say they're over all Very educated and knowledgeable In her profession!!! I would totally recommend Base Camp As your new home old home any designer...!!!

Kate helped me create the house of my dreams. She listens and gets what matters to you. She brought me ideas that helped me get out of my box and those have become the favorite parts of my house. She also could tell when something was really important to me. Kate managed the subcontractors for high quality which was a load off my back. I have used Kate for two updates and am thrilled with both results. Kate helped me create the house of my dreams and was a true partner in creativity and execution
