About Us

Now retired, we provided new construction and remodeling services for residential and commercial clients in the East Bay and San Francisco. We also partnered with interior designers and architects. Our firm built projects of all sizes, from decks to whole house remodels. Thank you for your interest and Best Wishes from our team! Former Journeywoman Carpenter Bonny Weil began her building career with classes in Construction Technology at Santa Monica College in 1979. Ms. Weil has been a licensed general contractor since 1990. She spent more that two decades building and managing a wide variety of challenging and unique projects before establishing Bonny Weil General Contractor in 2004 and has received industry awards from the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association in 2001 and the California Redwood Association in 2008. Past projects have been featured in Diablo Magazine and Philip Wenz's book, "Adding to a House". Our award winning Alamo deck is featured on the home page of the California Redwood Association Website. We believe that experience, craftsmanship, and love of remodeling make our company stand out in the industry.

We had a very poor experience with Bonny Weil, and ended up having to submit a (successful) Contractors Licensing Board and Bond complaint (but still ended up costing us a lot ). In (very) short, I had several 5 ft long vertical cracks in my bathroom tile almost immediately. We didn't realize they were actually cracks for awhile ( thought what we did see was just a tile anomaly) , as they were very hard to see, and it was in a bathroom we never use (guest bath). I would not recommend her based on her handling of the issue as well as other red flags. At the end of the day, you only have the integrity of the contractor you hire, and I never thought I would have had such a horrible experience, but I did.

Bonny Weil General Contractor was responsible for an outstanding job on the project at my house. She finished on time and within budget. Bonny has a very nice, respectful and hardworking crew. The crew arrived when they said they would arrive, they worked until the end of each day, they cleaned up before leaving each day, and they worked each day until the project was completed. Bonny let me know what to expect each step of the way, and she was extremely nice throughout. She also photo documented the entire project. Bonny Weil's attention to detail was noteworthy. I will definitely work with her again on future projects, and I highly recommend her to anyone that needs a smart and experienced General Contractor.

We've hired Bonny for two projects now, and have been extremely pleased both times! Most recently we completely redid two bathrooms, as well as replaced some windows elsewhere. Bonny is skilled and thorough through every phase of the project. She has an excellent eye for design, and matched her style and sensibilities to complement the unique look and feel of our house. She starts from day one thoroughly, talking through potential projects in detail while every other contractor we got a bid from would only speak in generalities. We had a thorough scope of work and schedule, and finished on time and budget. When surprises were discovered along the way (like removing a floor to find uneven subfloor), Bonny was able to give detail on what was found, whether it was an issue, and what our best options to resolve would be. She took great pains to ensure we were informed and engaged. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the experience. Bonny and her crew have always done a fantastic job, and we will work with them in a heartbeat the next time we have a project to do.

We contracted with Bonnie to build a new bathroom in our Lafayette home. It required EVERTHING- plumbing, new sewer line, electrical, multiple permits, repair of existing problems,etc. She was a pleasure to work with, the process was very well managed, when problems arose she dealt with them professionally and quickly, and end end result was wonderful. We'd use her again absolutely.

Bonny Weil is our contractor for an ongoing series of construction/remodeling projects on a house we bought earlier this year. She and her crew completely gutted and rebuilt a bathroom for us, built us a BEAUTIFUL deck out back, and took care of countless projects around the house. Bonny's attention to detail is what sets her apart. She meticulously plans, executes and reviews every step of a project. I have seen her make a carpenter/plumber/electrician re-do something that she felt wasn't up to par, even when it was something that we probably wouldn't have even noticed. She is also good about respecting our budget, offering different options, with different price points. The deck she built for us can only be described as gorgeous (photos included with this review). We get so many compliments on it, and even more important, we enjoy spending time on it, and just looking at it! She listens to our ideas, and makes adjustments easily along the way, adding something here, removing something there, always checking in to make sure we're satisfied. Bonny has been in the construction business for years, so has established relationships with the best plumbers/electricians and other subcontractors. Her tile setter is an artist (see the photo of what he did in our shower). She's a total professional all around.

Integrity, quality, creativity, attention to detail, on budget and on time. These are the qualities that Bonny has provided on multiple projects. We found Bonny through competitive bidding and have utilized her on many projects ever since. The budgets for these projects have ranged from $5,000 to $150,000. Bonny maintains the highest standards of quality and is a stickler for getting the detail right. A hands-on general contractor she stays on top of every detail in a project to ensure that her crew doesn't cut any corners. Bonny's creative ideas on custom building a beam, on-site, saved a considerable amount of money. Other contractors had not been able to find a solution. Most importantly, we have tremendous confidence in her integrity. She not only can tell what needs to be done but will advise when work isn't necessary or a less expensive option is available. We recommend Bonny without reservations.

We met and received bids from 3 different contractors. Though all three were professional and responsive, we thought Bonnie provided the most detailed and engaging experience. Once the work started, we were impressed with the attention paid to cleanliness by Bonnie and her two crew members. Throughout the project, Bonnie was flexible and responsive. The end product was a lovely kitchen remodel with a small addition for a half bathroom completed on budget and on time. Great job!

After having a bad experience with the first contractor, we hired Bonny Weil General Contractor to renovate two bathrooms in our home—master and hallway baths. Bonny and team helped us clean up the mess the first contractor had left and partnered with us to complete the bathrooms from start to finish. We collaborated throughout the project. Bonny and team took great care to live up to our detailed expectations. They listened to what we wanted and were extremely patient with us. While we were away for a few weeks during the renovation, Bonny kept us informed regarding the progress at home and involved us on decisions that needed to be made on time-sensitive issues. Bonny communicated and partnered with us every step of the way throughout the project. As a result, the bathrooms turned out the way we envisioned. We are very fortunate to have found Bonny and her team.

Bonny Weil has been our contractor of choice for several large projects including siding, window, porch, deck, and stairway replacement. She also worked with us to creatively "hide" an unattractive gas meter and “camouflage” other utility equipment. She is attentive to client needs and requests, and her well-considered advice on project scope makes sense in terms of both practicality and esthetics. Professional and courteous, she and her crew do high-quality work. In contrast to experiences we have had with other contractors, Bonny is personable, shows attention to detail, and provides easy-to-understand invoices at designated project milestones. Most importantly, Bonny is responsive to questions and concerns, and — compared with some other contractors we have worked with — never “goes dark”. We look forward to working with her again!

We hired Bonny to be our general contractor for a master bedroom addition on our 1950's era ranch house. Bonny did a great job orchestrating the work of the architect, subcontractors, and inspectors. Bonny was very honest and earnest in her dealings with us and had our trust throughout the project. The master bedroom turned out exactly as we wished and we think it is beautiful.

Bonny and her crew remodeled our master bathroom for us, and we liked her work so much, we called her again when we were ready for a kitchen update! She is a quality contractor, and master communicator, and I knew from how she approached our initial project conversations she would be a good match for my husband and myself. She uses high quality materials, is thorough, stays on calendar and budget, and has high expectations for her workers. Regardless of what was being done during the day, when the workers left at the end of the day, our house was neat and cleaned from the days work. Bonny has remodeled several kitchens or bathrooms in the neighborhood, and I have heard nothing but the highest praise.

Commented: what are the size of boards used for bench construction?The boards are all 2 x 6 with a wider cap at the top. The drawings are the property of the engineer that designed the deck; not mine to share. Best wishes, the BWGC

Commented: What is the best way to seal the tray edges and tile?We used the white triangular shaped flange that Duravit provided at the time. No complaints.

Commented: How are the metal clamps anchored to the tray ?Typically the shower clips are installed with screws. These may have been done with silicone. I don't remember.
