About Us

Bruss Landscaping, Inc. was founded in 1952 by Carl and Anne Bruss primarily as a nursery and retail garden center operation. As time went on and the business grew, Bob and Bill Bruss became the second generation owners of the business and began offering residential landscape design and installation services to their customers. In 1987 the original location was closed to make way for construction of I-355 and the company moved to its current office in Wheaton while creating a 10 acre nursery and production yard in West Chicago, Illinois. In 1993 the third generation of the Bruss family, Eric Bruss, took over operation of the landscaping company and continued to build upon the foundation of quality and service created by his family. In 2022 the company was sold to Fairwood Brands which is a nationwide family of companies that specialize in creating and maintaining luxury outdoor living spaces. Today the Bruss team includes seasoned Landscape Architects and Designers who focus 100% of their efforts on residential landscape design and landscape services. The company employs dedicated craftsmen which pride themselves on the creativity and quality of their work. Bruss Landscaping is constantly focused on maintaining its reputation as being the best choice for your investment in residential landscaping services.

Bruss Landscaping has done several projects for us with each one done excellently. Our guests never fail to comment on how beautiful our yard looks. It is truly a pleasure every morning when I open my shades and or step out on my patio to enjoy my morning coffee. Their work is thorough, their crew is polite and courteous, carefully cleaning up after their work. Their design staff is a pleasure to work with. They even go the extra mile to make the plan even better once they are on the location completing the job. With their fertilizing program, my plants look so much better than they did when I did the fertilizing. Contracting with Bruss Landscaping on two separate projects -- landscaping and hardscaping -- was like traveling back to an era when companies delivered service, professionalism and results that are nearly impossible to find today. Zach is a creative and conscientious designer who seems to know everything about every plant and obsessed over selection and positioning onsite. Unlike most services whose charming salesperson vanishes after the paperwork is signed, replaced by Neanderthals who stumble through the work, Zach made an appearance daily to oversee or check on the competent and professional crews that came every day and worked full days until the jobs were done. In the past two years we’ve contracted with a plumber, deckbuilder, electrician and rainwater management, concrete and siding contractors, and none have come close to the experience and results we’ve enjoyed from Bruss.

Bruss Landscaping built a new large hardscape patio in our backyard in Fall 2021, and we're extremely pleased with the result. Zach their landscape designer was great to work with from beginning to end - We love his design, and during the project he was proactively confirming our satisfaction as each component was built. Eve the project foreman led the work crew that did a high-quality job and communicated often with us. - We even received compliments from our neighbors about the professionalism of the crew. Although the patio was a significant investment, we love the result and it's an amazing addition to our home - We'll enjoy this outdoor space for years to come.

Our fabulous corner lot landscape design continually draws compliments from those walking by and cars pulling over to ask us who designed it. The English Countryside Cottage design completely wraps around our Tudor Revival home on all 4-sides. They addressed all our needs and wants in style. I must add, the Bruss Trimming Team are perfectionists. They come over and take care of every detail. Incredibly meticulous. Excellent clean-up. We always look forward to seeing them. We have used this landscape company for 27 years and have always been very pleased with the results. Initially they did major renovations to our old landscaping. They built a paver patio as well as retaining walls. The past few years we have used this firm to do our spring and fall clean-ups as well as a mid-season pruning of trees and shrubs. Their crews are always very professional, come when promised and do the agreed upon work as planned. The crew foreman always checks with us prior to leaving to see that they have not missed anything on the list. We would highly recommend Bruss Landscaping!

Tillie and her entire team was excellent. Very attentive to the job being done which was a complete spring clean up, tear out of old landscape and planting of new bushes and laying of new munch. Tillie checked in on the job more than once the day it was being done and we greatly appreciated that, such good customer service. They even helped us put in some landscape lighting which they did not have to do! Everything was above and beyond, we are happy customers and will be using them for future spring clean ups. I had tried several other landscaping and the end result was more about their financial satisfaction than my appreciation with the the service and end result. And then I called Bruss and was connected with Tillie. Tillie listened to my hopes and heard my reality and returned with a plan that reflected both. Tillie its accessible and responsible to the job which resulted in gorgeous gardens that receive compliments from neighbors and passers-by. I use the Bruss garden care service and it, as is Tillie, beyond compare. This summer I thought I would go with the garden care of my organic lawn service. By June, I called Tillie and confessed that I strayed! Within a week Angel and his team brought my gardens back to the "Bruss beautiful" I had come to know the past two years. I look forward to future projects and continued garden care. Thank you, Tillie and Angel and all the crews who have made my front and back yards havens of serenity.

I have worked with Mike at Bruss for a while now. He is a very respectful, conscientious, and creative landscape designer. He is always prompt at getting back to me, and he has gone over and beyond what he needs to do. He designed my back yard patio, and it is beyond beautiful! We love sitting out there, and it was not an easy task due to the drainage problem we had with the town house . I would recommend Bruss Landscaping, and ask for Mike.

We hired Bruss last year after our old shrubs were torn out so they could start out with a clean slate. We met with Tillie and the design she came up with was just beautiful. Between what we wanted and her ideas, and the use of Bluestone out cropping stones and a variety of shrubs and perennials , and the quality of the work done by the crew , we cannot say enough about them. We have received so many compliments from friends,family, neighbors and even people just walking by. Tillie is just a pleasure to work with , the crews workmanship is outstanding, would definitely recommend !! Bruss went above and beyond , Thank You !!

They were prompt and professional with providing a quote, easy to work with and discuss the project, they maintained very good communications and addressed all of our needs.
