Carla Anderson, Landscape Architect

When my front lawn was not thriving and I decided it was because it was on the north side of my house and because of my large trees received very little sun. I decided I needed help from a landscape architect. Since I knew no one who would fit the description I asked many of my friends who also liked to play in the dirt. Repeatedly, Carla Anderson’s name came up as not only very competent, but also very nice and easy to work with. I contacted Carla and that was the beginning of my fabulous yard. I told Carla I was tired of dealing with my failing grass in the front and we began with a plan and she carefully explained the plants that would grow with the shade and the microclimate conditions in my front yard. It flourished and Carla had a drip system installed for easy care. It is more beautiful than I thought possible. In fact the spring of the next year I loved it so much I called Carla and asked her to do a plan to redo the back yard. I did keep some grass and also kept my vegetable garden and my blackberries and the rest of my fruit trees and my grapes. She just added beautiful perennials and suggested I replace my 30 year old sprinkler system. Now I have more drip in the backyard and it is just more beautiful and private. Carla always has great ideas, a path here and flagstone steps there and a gorgeous bush there. It is always just right. AND GROWS! Carla is also a great teacher and has taught me how to prune my bushes and grapes so they grow the way we want them to grow. I am so lucky to have found Carla as she has transformed my entire yard to my private paradise. I love my yard and love to spend time outside enjoying all of the beautiful growing plants all spring, summer, fall, and winter as I don’t cut everything back to the ground and enjoy looking at things in the winter as well. Much more fun to have things to look at!

Carla designed our landscaping and worked with us in picking out plants and lighting. She was flexible as well as creative. Carla quickly developed an understanding of our desires and translated that into a comprehensive landscaping plan. She then worked with us on preparing bid documentation and helped guide us through the selection process for a landscape contractor to implement her plans. Carla worked with us over three years (2011 - 2013) as she designed and implemented the plans in three separate stages, each building on the last. We now have an amazing yard, constantly getting compliments from neighbors and strangers alike.
