Cedarbrook Outdoor Design/Build

This job was done 11 years ago as of 2021. The finished product turned out great but its the behind the scenes experience that was unsatisfactory thus the three stars. Job was overpriced by comparison but we like to think you get what you pay for and Cedarbrook had lots of great reviews and seemed like a quality group but the high price did not come with good back service. It took longer than expected but that comes with the territory. Punch list included lots of leaks in the porch roof and after many return visits and gutter alterations the water coming in staining the ceiling and bulk head where fixed. Recently ( 11 years after install ) we've had issued with the steps off of the back porch. Deck boards and fascia boards coming loose. We called Mike and he came out to take a look. Most of the pressure treated joists used are completely water damaged. He explained it was partly due to the way Cedarbrook constructed it ( which they have since changed ) and that there is a warranty that can be used for the wood they sourced. Cedarbrook wanted a very high price to do the repairs ( compared to the other estimates we have obtained ) and told us that we had to handle all aspects of the warranty ourselves. A very disappointing response overall. Would not recommend unless your cool with high prices and empty excuses.

We had Cedarbrook design and build a 10' x 21' screened in porch for us, with a patio underneath. When they were done, our finished product was beautiful, functional and should last 50 years. Our neighbors and people passing by are very impressed and ask who built that for you. We enjoy watching nature unfold from the porch and the patio. If I need anything else done outdoors, I will surely use them again!

We had a fantastic experience with Cedarbrook! Mike really listened to the styles we liked and features we wanted, and came up with a design that completely impressed us with how perfect for us it was. Not only did he incorporate all of our requests but had solutions to water issues in the yard and some design suggestions that demonstrate how knowledgeable Mike is. The employees that put in the patio and deck were professional and tidy, and did great work. Our new deck and patio is beautiful and actually makes our small backyard look bigger.

Team fixed an old patio ceiling install from another contractor. As always, the team treated my home as their own. They were Very respectful and knowledgeable and showed me how they fixed the area installed wrong and insured me areas that were previously installed were installed correctly and secure which were not easily accessible during the estimate phase. therefore the job wasn’t as huge as estimated.

Workmanship is amazing! On budget, on schedule and the work is better than I could have ever imagined. Truly transformed the home.

Cedarbrook was excellent from start to finish. Meeting with Mike to discuss design and materials was convenient and provided us with ideas that led to a beautiful deck and patio. This company is experience with working with exotic woods, and our Ipe deck is just gorgeous. The crew worked through bad weather as much as was safe to complete out project in a timely matter. The paver stones for the patio and terraced flower beds complement the brick on our home, and the plantings suggested are beautiful. We are very pleased and would recommend this company to anyone. They were great at responding to questions and kept us informed about their progress.

CedarBrook removed our old deck and patio and replaced them with a beautiful new deck and patio. Every phase of the project was performed in a timely manner and with precise execution. We were very impressed by the skill of the crews, and we are delighted by the results. We highly recommend this company.

We worked with Mike Arneson at Cedarbrook for about a year to determine a design and budget for our deck and patio project. He answered our many questions/concerns and made himself available to meet in person several times in advance of the project start. We also wanted to address some drainage issues in the back of our home and Mike and team were able to include that as part of the project scope. Our project was completed in two phases. The deck was first. Materials were delivered on time and we were very satisfied with the initial quality....we hope that proves to be the case long term and we feel pretty optimistic that the vendor recommended by Cedarbrook will be top notch. The craftsmanship of the actual deck build was excellent and the guys took great pride in their work. The patio project required a substantial amount of excavation. The crew was onsite for about a week and took great care when working under and around the new deck. The hardscape project included two capped retaining walls, a 25' x 12' patio, paver walkway, natural stone steppers, river stone under the deck and around the steppers and a capped sitting wall. The crew worked incredibly hard to meet our expectations and in the end we were very happy with their work. Mike came back at the end of the project to perform a quality check. He did so with a critical eye and identified a few areas that required correction and them addressed before we could even notice. We knew that Cedarbrook was not the cheapest contractor in town and we were glad to pay a little more for the quality we expect for such an investment. In the end we are glad we did. We got what we paid for and are very happy with the value received for the contracted price.
