We have always wanted a custom black walnut table, and complimentary english walnut desk made from the trunk of old trees, with butterfly and opposing halves to create a unique centerpiece for our Dining Room and Library. With Dunlap Woods we were able to select the type of wood, individual planks with the grain that we liked, and were able to work with Daniel on the shape, design, and aesthetic. We then chose the style of legs from antique machine lathe supports, and with Daniel's imagination and engineering he created a table for eight to ten that impresses everyone who visits our house. Daniel brought a practical zen to his design telling us to trust him that "the wood would tell me how to shape to table" and "that every beautiful tree is unique and that we must be open to design with the shapes of the boards in mind." We let Daniel go with minimal constraints, and we could not have more blown away by the results. He would email us throughout the design and manufacturing process, asking for our input, and carefully guiding us with suggestions that were not originally in our plan, but led to a better outcome that we could have imagined. I worked with Daniel at Dunlap Woodcrafts to select wood for a live edge bartop. I was able to visit his warehouse and he provided expert advice in selecting the right wood for my project. He worked closely with my contractor who installed and finished the bartop to make sure it was a seamless project, and the wood he selected for the project was beautiful.
