We used Govan Builders for an addition we had built onto our chalet-style home at Bryce Resort in the beautiful Shenandoah mountains. Our home has been transformed and we love the results. We believe the best part of working with Dan & team was the fact that they take care of everything; finding an architect, clearing the lot, contracting for the foundation, all permits, contacts for vendors for any and all finishings, etc. The Project Manager was always present and he listened to our wants and needs and made sure our vision was successfully carried out. Our finished project includes a proper laundry space, walk-in closet, primary bedroom, a four-piece bathroom, a garage below, a portico, boxing in of an existing chimney, all new windows and roof! We highly recommend Govan Builders!

We discovered Govan Builders as we began building our mountain cabin in Shenandoah Valley, and the experience has been exceptional. Dan’s market expertise is unmatched, he guided us seamlessly through the construction process while helping us understand the Basye area, which was especially valuable as we planned to run an STR. The construction was timely, communication from the team was frequent and clear, and we appreciated their flexibility to adjust plans along the way. Thanks to Govan Builders, we now have our dream home, something we couldn’t have achieved without their incredible team.

We had a great experience with Govan Builders. The project involved opening up the main level of our 1970s split level, renovating the kitchen, and adding a patio. We had never been through a major remodel before, and the Govan team was helpful from start to finish. We are really happy with the finished product, and are impressed that they were able to keep to the budget and timeline. We highly recommend this team!

Goven Builders renovated our master bath and built an addition over our garage. These are now probably our two favorite rooms in the house--and the garage addition (a new office) has been an absolute saving grace in the pandemic. Dan also did a major addition for my mom's house that she is thrilled with. As an initial matter, Dan Govan's proposals are great--very detailed, thorough, and fairly priced based on what we saw from other contractors, so we knew very clearly what we were getting and what we were paying for it from the outset. That was really helpful in planning and avoiding surprises. Communication was also great throughout, including Brian being an incredibly helpful and responsive project manager and Dan providing detailed responses to my (many) questions in the planning phase and when they came up during the process. The quality of the work was uniformly outstanding. On the couple of occasions where issues arose during construction (which seems to be an inevitability in any project), they were fixed immediately. It was not always easy (twice) living in a house undergoing major renovations, but we had faith it would be worth it (especially the second time around) because the final product would be great--and we were not disappointed. I highly recommend Dan for great quality work, excellent communication, and fair and clear proposals.

We used Govan to remodel our Kitchen. Before contract signing, Dan went out of his way to ensure the walls I wanted removed could be. I chose Dan out of many since he is the only one who suggested pull out drawers vs cabinets on the lowers. Great idea. His price was fair and work was excellent. The cabinetry was custom designed to our needs. Two years in and I have no complaints with the quality of craftsmanship. Pictures are of the before and after. Pictures do not include painting since I had the whole house painted after Dan's team was done. Project included added in hardwood where there was vinyl, refinishing the rest of the wood area, taking down two walls, moving an air vent, installing an island, installing recessed lights and under counter lights. I would not hesitate to hire Govan again.

Used Govan Builders to repair some major storm damage on our house. Dan and his team are terriffic. The quality of repairs were excellent and done quickly and efficiently. In addition to doing great work, Dan and his team are very responsive, professional and easy to work with. Top notch service and great work. Would recommend them very highly!

I have used Govan Builders for two recent projects. One was to repair my roof and interior ceiling after a tree limb fell, creating a hole. The other project was replacement of a patio door and, removal of wallpaper along with painting. Dan Govan and his subs were very professional, prompt concerning when they would show-up to complete the job, and very excellent with making he repairs, and cleaning up once the job was done. I highly recommend this company for building or renovating a house.

My wife and I had never done such a big project, and going into it, we were pretty overwhelmed. We also heard our share of horror stories that made us even more concerned about making the right choice. But we soon learned that we had nothing to worry about with the Govan gang on our side. We could trust them implicitly. They never cut corners......ever. They made the construction process as stress-free and simple as possible from start to finish. I appreciated the peace of mind they gave us, and my wife loved their dedication to getting even the smallest of details just right. All in all, a fabulous experience from top to bottom.

Govan Builders has completed several jobs for us over the years, including window replacement, hardiplank installation, stonework, exterior trim painting, and general handyman work. Their work is top-notch. I highly recommend this company.

Hurricane Sandy toppled a large Oak onto our home in October of 2012. Between the structural damage and water damage, virtually the entire house needed to be renovated. We reached out to Govan Builders, having worked with them years previously for all of our home renovations (kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, walls, etc.). Dan Govan and his team responded immediately during what was for us, a dire and time sensitive situation. Dan worked with our insurance company and helped to manage that process all the way through completion of the renovation - a huge help and stress-reliever - and, helped us stay on budget. The 2012 storm damage renovation included an entirely new roof/infrastructure, chimney, all new interior walls, new electrical, plumbing, new kitchen, bathrooms, floors and much more on all levels of our home. We are very pleased with the results and will work with Govan Builders again.
