Doug Laing architect

Doug was great to work with from beginning to end. My wife and I benefited from the initial visits with Doug to develop the understanding of our fanily’s needs and lifestyle. These initial meetings led to an easy design process, which moved along smoothly and efficiently. He was able to capture our ideas and implement them. My experience as a general contractor and in the industry for 24 years has provided exposure to a variety of architects and designers, and I have no regrets in asking Doug to be our architect. In fact, after seeing his portfolio and some of his projects in person, it was an easy decision. We are extremely pleased with the architectural services provided by Doug and highly recommend him to others.

We couldn’t be happier with our new home. Doug took on what we thought was an impossible task in finding designs that my wife and could agree upon. He was a master at bringing our ideas together into a great design that included everything we hoped to achieve. Doug was very willing to listen to our ideas and give them a try while offering creative solutions and extra details that improved both livability and design. We enjoyed a very comfortable working relationship and collaboration that produced a wonderful home and we made a good friend.

In 1993 my husband and I discovered a perfect piece of property on the Pacific Ocean, north of Florence OR, on which to build our dream home. Our realtor referred us to Doug Laing. We met with Doug and formed a strong bond immediately. He quickly understood the themes that excited us, and equally importantly, comprehended what we did not want. There was a very good match of temperament and aesthetic orientation. We had quite a few ideas; Doug built on those ideas and proposed creative variations. The result is a house that truly reflects our ideas and our style. Our friends all comment that this is the most architecturally beautiful house they have ever seen. Others have commented that they can feel our love when they enter the house, or that Paul’s presence in the house is so strong even though he is no longer with us. I would not change a single thing about our experience creating this house.

I have worked with Doug Laing in various capacities for over 25 years. Whether it is a building project for clients that he designs homes for or partnering with him to design and build unique and distinctive dwellings on the ocean or in the mountains of Northern California, there is always one constant...his attention to the wishes and needs of his clients. Doug's working knowledge of construction techniques and professional training as a creator of environmental co-existence sets him apart. His passion for life and for those with whom he works is evidenced through the final rendering of every project and the lifelong relationships that remain with his clients..a very rare occurrence.
