Second Growth Woodcraft Ltd.

We were looking for well-priced but very high quality interior Douglas Fir doors for our large custom Northwest Contemporary home that we are building in the Seattle area. After much web-searching I came across this business in tiny Lillooet, British Columbia. My contractor was extremely impressed with owner Basil's knowledge and responsiveness. He shipped out to us a box of wood samples and provided references that we could go and visit to see the actual doors, which lived up to everything he said they were. The wood grain is extremely tight for "second-growth" VG fir, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. We had a lot of custom-sized jambs and all was done to specifications and in a timely fashion. We had originally thought it best to look for MDF-core fir doors because of concern about warpage in solid wood doors. However, after talking to several of his references, we were reassured that the wood in these doors was well-cured and that no one seemed to be having warping problems with them. We are just getting the conversion varnish applied currently and the doors look absolutely fantastic! Will post photos when doors are hung again. The microbevel flush panel doors work really well in our contemporary-style home. So happy we took a chance on this small operation and were able to take advantage of the very favorable Canadian dollar exchange rates currently, which saved us a lot of money. Couldn't be happier with this company!
