Dutch Barn Landscaping

Took our money and ran. Communication was terrible. After 7 months of pestering them to comply with requests from the Village of Lake Forest so that the permit could be issued, we cancelled our contract. They signed an agreement to return $15,000 from our deposit after we agreed to let them keep more than the contract allowed for cancellation and still they kept all of our money, ignoring the agreement they signed. Do not trust Dutch Barn!!

Do not recommend. Some good workers amongst them but, overall, terrible experience. The respect and management is missing. This review will probably be taken down.

DB has been unresponsive since March trying to correct a mistake they made grading our yard. Now every time it rains we get a massive puddle in the backyard because of a high spot they refuse to come repair. They agree it needs to be done, but didn't show up 3 times it was scheduled and now are mostly unresponsive! Beware, if things don't go right they don't seem to want to fix their mistakes. Even reached out to Court Schild over a week ago with no results. The gutter drains were routed incorrectly leading to water coming over our foundation into the basement of our brand new home. When DB didn't show up we were forced to have another company fix the issue so that we did not continue to get water due to poor grading and gutter drain routing. Hopefully DB steps up and corrects the remaining issues, I will update the review when that happens.

So writing a long review to share the entire experience we had with Pinnacle/Dutch Landscaping. Included are pictures of what are dead landscaping currently looks like and the front page on their website which still uses a picture of how our landscaping looked when the plants were first put in. We choose Pinnacle/Dutch for landscaping for our house because we moved into a new construction home and our builder was using them for the sod in the front of our house so we figured it would be easier to stick with the same company. We did so and even spent additional money for even more landscaping to decorate the front and also to hide an eye sore we have in the back of our house. Initially it was a decent experience when we first met with Jim but after they were done planting, we continued to use them for lawn service and then it went downhill. We barely received any response on text messages or phone calls and by the time they decided to cut our lawn, it was too late and it ended up being lumpy because of how long they took so we had to go with a new Landscaping company which is Villa Landscaping who we definitely recommend. Now that was a year ago, this year, as part of our contract with them for our initial landscaping, we were told we had a year warranty with their plants/trees and they would replaced anything that died. We began reaching out the last week of April and have called nearly every week and have not received one phone call back or anyone coming out to visit to take a look at the damage and it has been about two months now. The damaged trees you see in our backyard were suppose to cover that eye sore and as you can tell, other than the wrong type of trees chosen to cover it, it was also poorly planted by them. We definitely do not recommend them for any work based on our experience and highly doubt they will follow up with us even after this review. It feels like a decent experience at first but as any homeowner knows, customer service and follow up are keys to maintaining customers and also gaining new ones.

Dutch Barn is the best in the business when it comes to landscape design, quality, craftsmanship, and professionalism. They are the only Landscaping company in the area that we entrust to beautify our new homes. Putman Builders has been using Dutch Barn for years and will continue to do so into the future. We highly recommend Dutch Barn to anyone looking to install a new landscaping, remodel their current landscaping, or to maintain their yard!

Tina has been my landscaper/garden consultant since 2006. She has always taken the time to talk with me about what I like or don't like about my yard, how I feel my plantings are doing, what I want my yard to look like. She is knowledgeable about the smallest annual to the largest tree in my yard. She even gives me feedback to share with my yard service to make sure I get their best care. I do at least one project a season, and Tina helps me to determine what it will be and how it will impact my yard. I am proud to say that when I am working in my yard - people stop and tell me how beautiful it is and how much they enjoy walking or driving by. I even had a family take some pictures in my yard. I have complete confidence recommending Tina for any project you might have.

Dutch Barn has worked on our landscaping three times. Each time, the work was done professionally and the area was left clean and neat. Tina has always been very responsive when we've contacted her, and we are very pleased with the areas that she has designed in our yard. The work has been done in a timely matter and has remained good looking years after it was done. I would highly recommend both Tina and Dutch Barn Landscaping.

Dutch Barn came in and fixed the blunders of another landscaping company. They completely sodded our back yard and it looks wonderful.

So happy with the work that Dutch Barn did with my totally revamped front landscaping. Tina was great at helping us pick out the right bushes, plants and layouts. Excellent job!!

Working with Tina and the Dutch Barn Landscaping team has been a wonderful experience. For each of the last couple of years, Tina has helped me target a portion of my never ending, forever changing, landscaping project. She has taken my ideas, worked within the budget, added a gentle dose of reality and produced "wow" results. Tina is a down to earth, practical visionary and her crew is tidy and efficient. I have left them in my yard and upon my return the project was complete, and beautiful. I am so pleased that I have never had to do anything to clean up or finish the project. Dutch Barn will continue to be my "go-to" resource for years to come.

I have been very happy with Dutch Barn from the design of my yard 9 years ago to the quality of plants, satisfaction of work done yearly in mulching, edging and top coating of stone where needed, to the expert knowledge and advise of their employees. I have recommended them to many friends and have had people come to my house and ask me who I had do the work on my yard. I will continue to use them for all my landscaping needs.

This company and its designer Tina were hired by me to fix landscaping errors made by others. No other landscaper contacted wanted any part of this. Dutch Barn exceeded our expectations, did the work on time, used quality workers, and were under budget. They are a small company, responsive, communicative, and very professional. Wow! I would recommend them without hesitation.
