Melissa Hammond has designed two complete rooms for us, plus some finishing touches in other rooms. Before starting any project, she learned our likes and dislikes, how the area will be used, and the mood we’re trying to achieve. Thus she created rooms that reflect our tastes and needs. Her skill at envisioning the finished room enables her to select colors and coordinate pieces that work well with each other. We enjoyed working with her and wouldn’t hesitate to use her services again.

We have hired Melissa of Hammond Design on two separate occasions. The first was to reconstruct our living room which included our oddly shaped fireplace and next to redo our dated, falling apart kitchen. Melissa and her team were excellent to work with on all counts. They were respectful of our design ideas, always on time and prompt to reply be it by email or phone call. One of the main reasons that we would use Hammond Design again is that Melissa helped cut through the choices. She had a good sense of our style and was able to focus us on 4-8 options. This was a massive time and stress saver for us personally. Melissa was a joy to work with and we would not hesitate to hire her again on our next renovation project.

Melissa was easily able to understand the vision I had but I was unable to clearly articulate. She created a space that went beyond my expectations mixing modern clean lines and vintage comfort. From the color palette to the layout and all the little details in between, the space is gorgeous and unique. Absolutely everyone who has seen it has commented on how beautiful it is.

I worked with Melissa for over six months on the interior design work for my home. I couldn't be more thrilled. It was a highly collaborative project that allowed me to express my tastes/style but in very organized, thoughtful way. Melissa and her team helped us redesign and renovate an old home from the 1800s. Her concept modernized the layout by opening up the kitchen/living area, creating a more spacious master bathroom as well as utlizing innovative space-saving solutions such as built-ins throughout the house. Her suggestions were extremely practical but also catered precisely to our modern taste. We were expecting our first child, and she even designed a whimsical nursery, and helped us pick out amazing pieces of furniture for every room. Melissa and her assistant Lauren were an absolute pleasure - highly responsive and innovative with difficult problems. I would recommend them to any client, across project scope or design sensibilities. My highest praise!

Melissa is a delight to work with. She spent our initial meeting getting to know us, our space, and our ideas for how we wanted our rooms to look and function. When we first contacted Melissa, all we knew was that we wanted our space to be comfortable, casual, and kid- (and dog-) friendly. And she really understood that. A few weeks later, she presented several design options and helped us pick and choose what we liked about each one. From there, she came up with a design that was perfect for us. She set us up with a fabulous contractor to help carry out her plan. The renovations included new construction windows, widening a doorway, installing radiant heat, replacing tiles, and installing a custom built media cabinet and window seating (designed by Melissa). While the renovations were taking place, Melissa shopped for new furniture, rugs, lighting, and fabrics. She always presented several options that will work well in the space and helped us choose between them. She has an amazing eye for detail, all the while keeping our tastes in mind. As the renovations were coming to an end, she designed window treatments and helped us choose paint colors. She found an amazing company to do the custom window treatments and cushions for the window seating. The finished product far exceeded our expectations. Previously, we never used our sunroom. But now it's our favorite room in the house. Melissa is a talented designer with an intuitive sense about what her clients will like. She's so easy to work with and we trust her advice. She has high standards for the companies she recommends for painting, carpentry, and window treatments, not to mention furniture stores and fabric vendors. We absolutely recommend her services.

Melissa is a joy to work with. She helped us every step of the way through a very complicated project which included moving walls, relocating rooms, a complete master suite build-out and decorating every corner of our house.. She was responsive, honest and did a great job of listening to our wishes. I can recommend her work without hesitation.

We were in the middle of a whole house remodel and completely overwhelmed by the amount of decisions we needed to make. Before we hired Melissa to come help us, we had "tried out" two other interior designers. One of them just didn't seem like someone we wanted to spend any amount of time with. The other designer just was not very helpful in getting us to take the next step. Melissa was truly great! She is very organized and therefore, really helped organize us so we no longer felt overwhelmed. She gave us an accurate estimate of how much time she would need to help with the project. More importantly, she helped us define our project and prioritize decision making. She good naturedly mediated between me and my husband when necessary (that is worth the price alone!). She is very down to earth, fun to be with, not pushy with her ideas, and great at listening. Best of all, we absolutely love what she helped us create! (And no, I am not related to her - this is my honest opinion!)
