Bought a home approximately one year ago. At first glance, the home was lovely with great curb appeal and well built. Unfortunately, the more I looked, the more problems I found. Still working through all the issues. If you buy a Benton Home, stay in the staff, they will try and get out of fixing issues. Took me numerous requests to have my air flow issues addressed and I am still having problems. I will keep working with them, but I am disappointed.

I am sorry you are having issues with your air flow. Do you mind emailing warranty@jeffbentonhomes.com with your name and address so we can look into this further.

My family and I had a great experience building our home with Jeff Benton Homes. We chose Jb because it was a cut above the rest concerning quality, service, and options. I sell real estate and have represented clients with every builder in our area. So choosing JB Homes was calculated. Every build has bumps in the road, it’s a reality, but there were few and always handled well. We love our home and community. Im always pleased to recommend Jeff Benton Homes.

My husband and I are retired military, we decided to build in Alabama and chose Jeff Benton. We made trips back from North Carolina when we needed to do walk throughs. As the building process moved forward the JEFF benton team emailed weekly updates and pictures. I love the quality of our Jeff Benton Home. The JB team is built with genuinely caring people who take great care and pride in building quality homes. If I had to build again I would go with Jeff Benton Homes again.

From start to finish, we had a great experience with the Jeff Benton Home building and buying process. Cindy Dufrene is THE BEST realtor we have ever worked with! She is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares. She will become your best friend! David Rainey was our building manager and he was there to ensure everything went smoothly and was very responsive to any problems. We love our new house! The warranty process is in a class of its own! We have bought new homes before but have never experienced this level of service and responsive. We would definitely build another Jeff Benton home should the need arise!

They built our home in 2011 and we have never spent so much money correcting errors made in the construction of our home. The first problem was one of our 2 back porch columns started shiting 14 months after we moved in, but Jeff Benton wouldn't address it because they said "it's not affecting the structural integrity of the home". It continued to move until it started not only shifting backward toward the house, but also started turning and we forked out $900 to repair. It turns out that the supports that should have been installed within the columns were never added and that is what caused the 1 column to move. We, of course paid to have both columns correctly installed so they wouldn't shift again.
We had to have the spring, support, and shaft for our garage door replaced because the Jeff Benton subcontractor installed the rod (that connects the opener to the wall above the door) 3" too high and it created such pressure it snapped the 1 spring (when there should have been two because of the width of the door) 2 years after we moved in. It not only required a new spring, but the shaft & support had to be replaced as well. A $850 repair.
The A/C had to be completely refilled when coolant after the installer didn't ensure the cooper tubing between the hot and cool lines weren't touching and that created a 1" hole in those lines, but we didn't know until we had no A/C (an almost $800 repair).
We have several walls that were not taped or mudded correctly and we paid $750 to have several of those fixed.
My suggestion is do NOT build with Jeff Benton homes. We have attempted several times to notify Jeff Benton Homes of their faulty sub-contractors work and they don't care. They just tell us the home is not longer under their warranty and if we would like we can file a claim under the extra warranty, but that doesn't cover anything other than structural issues.

Jeff Benton built this house for us while we were living in Arizona. They completed the house as scheduled and we were able to close about 15 days early. The realty contact was very helpful at every stage, and all option selected were added as contracted. We felt Jeff Benton was the only builder that we felt comfortable working with while living 1800 miles away.

Jeff Benton Homes does not stand behind the warranty that they claim to provide. They mailed a letter to us stating that they delivered us an energy efficient home. The HVAC system is not working properly. The auxiliary heat, which can be three times more expensive, runs frequently. Jeff Benton Homes did send technicians out multiple times but the technicians were unable to diagnose the problem, although they agreed there was a problem. At that point Jeff Benton Homes gave up on resolution of the problem and noted that no other warranty action would be taken.
I would NOT recommend that you purchase a home from Jeff Benton. If you want a builder who stands behind their product, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

We bought our home from this developer in 2013, we are OK with our home but the process was somewhat disorganized. We were asked if we wanted to make any changes to the floor plan and when we requested our changes, the answer was "no" pretty much for anything. However, buyers in the new phases are allowed to make changes much more drastic on the same model that we have. Also, we wanted the standard floor plan (master bedroom to the left side) for our house and all the negotiations were based on that understanding. At the last minute were told that they had to build a reverse floor plan on that lot and that we had not choice. Needless to say that we were surprised because this was never communicated, otherwise we would have made adjustments accordingly.
During the construction of the home we noticed a number of defects that needed correction and communicated it in writing to both, the realtor (as instructed) and to the construction manager, they said they would correct them but never did. Again, during the home inspection we informed the Quality Control person and the construction manager of a number of issues that needed to be corrected and they said they would fix them and again were not corrected, including damaged sod. With respect to the sod, first they indicated that they would fix, then they said they had to wait until the Spring, then they had to wait until the Summer, then in the Summer we were told that they would not fix it because sod was not covered under the warranty. They offered to replace the sod in the front of the house or we would pay $1,500 if we wanted the sod replaced in the entire lot. The sod problem was common to approximately 16 houses in our development. In our specific case, the problem was a combination of dead sod and damage caused by workers cleaning their tools in our property (paint and grout), and other workers running their heavy equipment through our backyard without authorization. In the end, after several months of back and forth, and after a person from main office came to the property and saw first hand what we had been reporting, they replaced it at no cost. This was not an easy process. I must say that after these issues described above, the developer's new staff has made a good effort to make up for it.

I was in the market for a new home, and though a realtor was shown a recently constructed home by this company, which was currently on the market. I ultimately purchased that home. During the initial few months of the 2-year warranty, a few minor things that had been left undone or done incorrectly were noted, and the company corrected them promptly. But within a few months of the 2-year warranty expiration, some major things began to go wrong. But the company appeared to show little to no interest in being of any assistance, or of looking into or knowing about any potential for improper or substandard items that had been allowed by them to pass. Two items in particular were (and remain) very problematic, and were never satisfactorily resolved - or even addressed - by the company, despite repeated requests from the buyer for the company to do so. The main issue was (and remains) a cracking of the structural foundation (most probably in the slab), which has resulted in a plainly visible crack in a straight line all the way across the entire home (through several rooms), from front to back. Along with this, evidence of moisture/water spots developed and became clearly visible on the hardwood floors, growing ever larger over a period of several months. After repeated requests were made by the buyers for this company to send out a construction supervisor, to evaluate the situation and advise on what could be done, the company finally had a representative from the local flooring store where they bought the flooring materials, come out and look at the floor. Nobody from the contractor company who built the home ever bothered to come -- or even acknowledge the requests for assistance or an assessment of the problem. And all the flooring man was able to do was recommend that the buyers simply "wait and see if it becomes worse, before you replace it." In other words, no help at all was provided, and no concern at all was evidenced. Additionally, the HV/AC waste water outlet system and the water drainage overall on that entire side of the house -- to include a substantial portion of the driveway, remains saturated with water year-round. The area in the vicinity of the HV/AC drainage outlet became a swampy quagmire. Nothing would grow there, grass died, and it turned into a mud-hole. The HVAC unit was examined by independent professionals (at the expense of the buyer) and it was determined that there was nothing wrong in the unit itself. (This issue could be related to the foundation cracking problem noted above.) Trying to find and apply some remedy to the issue of the swamp that developed in the structure's yard after this company sold it to the buyer has cost the buyer approximately $1,000 to date, and still remains a major problem. As of this date, the company has shown concern only during their very limited warranty period, and has shown little to no interest in the long-term viability of their product, or in their reputation relative to providing a quality product that is reliable. We would never purchase another product from this company. We also recommend NOT using this company to build - or buying this company's pre-built products - to others with whom we have opportunity to discuss potential home purchases or other projects.

We moved to Madison almost a year ago. A friend of ours is "in the business" and advised us to limit our home search to 2 builders in the area. Jeff Benton was one of the two. We looked at several of his new constructions and were VERY pleased with what we saw. If ever I am in the market for a new home again, Mr. Benton will be the one to build it. We've had absolutely no issues with our home, we were treated in a very professional manner, the price was affordable, and the value is outstanding.

Jeff Benton Homes built our first home. All our first time home buyer nervousness lasted only till we signed the contract with them. They were professional yet friendly from day one. Want to specially mention Ken (Sales) and Melanie (Design Studio consultant) for their help with all the questions we had.
We are living in our new home since May2013 and are very very happy with the build quality. No issues as of now and Thank you Jeff Benton Homes.

Very happy with our home. Very impressed with the cabinets and interior trim work. The few problems that we identified in our first year were corrected in a very expeditious manner. The overall quality of the home is excellent and I paid a very fair price for the house. I would definitely recommend Jeff Benton homes to friends.
