J. Hurst Woodworking

I received a B.A. in studio art from the University of New Hampshire in 2001 with an emphasis on furniture design. Along with my degree, minors in architecture and business helped to build the foundation on which I stand today. Through school I worked many jobs, all within the building trades: framing, in cabinet shops, and as a trim carpenter. After school I continued doing the same and spent 3 years as foreman for a company building challenge courses across the country in compliance with ACCT standards. In 2004 I opened my first woodshop and have focused on kitchens, furniture, decks, and renovations ever since. Winters typically see me chasing my other passion, ice climbing, around the country and Canada. My personal aesthetic evolves around clean lines and highlighting natural materials. Whenever possible I support local businesses, use certified and local wood, and use no or low VOC adhesives, finishes, and sheetgoods. I design and build with the future in mind and believe that if you build it right the first time, it will last a lifetime.
