Janice Sugita - Feng Shui Consultant

Janice Sugita is a true professional who I’ve used to decorate my townhouse in Marina del Rey, CA since 1980. Being at the beach I like a light sophisticated, uncluttered look with basic off white colored furniture and light floor coverings (such as limestone in l.r., dining room and bathrooms too.) Janice recently restyled two 9’ off white sofas around a wonderful stunning off white high pile wool shag throw rug under a 4’ square glass coffee table for a cozy corner of the large sunken living room. The kitchen has bleached oak flooring with off white cabinetry and black granite counter tops and black appliances which still look very contemporary after many years. A 1/2 circle dining table abuts an 8 ft window in the kitchen is most unique with its 4 circular chairs. The railing in the d.r. Is channeled glass overlooking the sunken living room giving the room a more open look. There are bleached oak handrails atop all railings on stairs going throughout the condo.. Colorful accents in the living room are accomplished through decorative throw pillows, throws and artwork (including a Samsung Smart TV with changeable artwork that hangs over a 9’ stunning bleached oak cabinet that Janice recently designed). These all add seasonable changeable colors to the living room decor. The 9’ cabinet holds all the TV and surround sound equipment for throughout the condo and lots of extra storage too which Janice has achieved in her design work. The corner fireplace in the l.r. Was just plastered over except for the fire pit area and displays a stunning replica artwork piece from the Parthenon. I’ve done 3 updates on my condo over the years and I’ve used ONLY Janice because we work well together and have similar tastes for my condo in maximizing space which has been accomplished. We’ve moved walls and enlarged the kitchen and made lots of extra closet space. Her design taste with each update always makes people walk in the Door and say “WOW” this is gorgeous!! She also recently did a lovely job designing my Master bedroom’s bleached oak bed headboard and unusual matching night stands which I love and floor to ceiling drapes too with one on a remote to hide a TV set and chest of drawers. My husband’s study/guest room is also loved by every guy who wishes he had an home office with work space and storage like it! A wonderful enlarged guest bathroom with interesting tile accents accompanies this fabulous study. I love what has been done with the condo and it’s various remodels that have made it outstanding and most interesting thanks to my close working relationship with Janice and her expertise. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with her over the years and the various remodels of my condo. She has great taste and design capabilities and I highly recommend her.

Once again, Janice did an amazing job on my latest home remodel which included 2 bathrooms and the hall and bedroom closets. My bathrooms are now beautiful and luxurious and my closets are functional and also beautiful! Everything exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier. I still can’t believe this is my house! Janice did an amazing job on my recent home remodel. I'm very pleased with the result and everything leading up to it. Janice handled the job from start to finish.... design and lighting incorporating Feng Shui concepts, contractors, materials, furniture, and accessories. She took the time to get to know me and worked the design around my lifestyle. Janice went through the design and furniture options iterating them until we had a concept that I was both happy with and also was comfortable with the cost of the project. She lined up top tier contractors and craftsmen who she worked closely with to ensure that the job was done right, and the job site was left clean and tidy at the end of the day. Given the supply chain issues of the day she worked hard to ensure we got both the style and quality I was looking for. We often had to pivot due to the availability of materials, but she worked the issues in a timely manner and typically found equivalent and often even better products than those originally planned. My husband and I were very fortunate to be able to work with Janice once again for our second major remodeling project. We remodeled 3 full bathrooms, as well as re-doing our master bedroom and staircase. We are extremely pleased with the finished rooms and the results surpassed our expectations. She did a fantastic job with space planning and material selection. Janice was always very professional and worked well with our contractor. Communication was always good between all of us. We would hire her again in a heartbeat and without hesitation!

Working with Janice on multiple projects has been great. My wife and I have remodeled two homes, the first of which we sold for a profit, that afforded us the opportunity to buy our second home and a historical bank building. We gave Janice the address of our second home before we put in an offer. She did a Feng Shui reading on the house and said "This home is good for family!" 10 months after moving in, our second son was born. The bank building is now the 18hundred, a restaurant we opened, with Janice taking care of the design. Customers can't stop raving about how beautiful the restaurant is. I feel very fortunate to have had Janice as my designer twice. The first time, Janice transformed the kitchen, living and family rooms of my old ranch home into a beautiful and timeless California chic home. Most recently, Janice transformed my California chic home into a modern, minimalistic, zen like retreat. We asked Janice to advise us about making our home more in-tune with the natural flow of energy. She advised us on the placement of objects in our home as well as which entry we should be using, the placement of our bed and the orientation of our heads when sleeping. I operated my graphic design business from home and Janice advised that I should place a large amount of water near the southwest corner of my office (outside) and it would help my business. After taking her advise, we had a happy harmonious home and my business has shown a steady increase off!

Our experience with Janice Sugita was excellent and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone considering a design project. We had been planning to remodel our 80’s era kitchen for many years, but the project was delayed due to lack of direction and not knowing where to begin. Janice was an absolute professional delight to work with. She has terrific communication skills. When on the job site she always had a smile to share and was prepared for our design questions. Janice worked well with all our Sub-Contractors and was always respectful of their questions and design needs. She was always quick to sort out the various job design needs with a knowledgable choice that was extremely helpful for the project.
