Black Timber Builders

I hired Mike Kalil of Black Timber Builders to oversee the construction of my new home in Boulder Colorado. It was a unique and challenging project. The home is constructed partially from shipping containers and the rest is constructed using SIPs. Mike was great during the entire process, from scouting out the site, arranging the subs, to final clean up. With an unusual project many unforeseen challenges arise, which Mike handled calmly and usually had a good solution to the problem. Even getting the containers to the mountain site was a challenge, but not insurmountable. I appreciated his experience with navigating the strict building codes and requirements of Boulder County, which can be a huge headache. In the end I have a well constructed and amazing home that performs beautifully so far this winter. The house stays comfortable and I hope it will be a model home for efficient green living well into the future. Kurt Smith home owner
