We had the good fortune to find Kathleen Hamlin as our sales consultant at the Myrtle Beach Ethan Allen furniture store. We moved to Myrtle Beach this past winter from the New England area and were looking for a fresh start furniture wise in our newly constructed home. After months of looking at a multitude of furniture stores up and down the Grand Strand we finally found the help and the furnishings we had been seeking when we met Kathleen. Her knowledge of the furniture and design industry was immediately evident. She was not in any way the pushy type of salesperson so often encountered. She made us feel relaxed but well informed of our options. She came to our home with samples of fabrics and wood finishes and was able to help us custom design our dining room, living room and bedroom furniture. We were thrilled with her personable expertise and could not be happier with our choices. We would highly recommend her services to anyone seeking quality furniture and expert advise.

I've worked with Kathleen on two projects; my family room and my bedroom. I am an Ethan Allen customer for years because I have come to rely on the beauty, the quality, the design and the value of Ethan Allen furniture. I had not, however, had a chance to work with Kathleen in the past because we just moved full-time to Myrtle Beach. Holy cow, if you want to work with a dynamo, go see Kathleen. She has this incredible energy and life that makes her so much fun to work with! She had wonderful, unique ideas for my house...things I had not thought of or even realized were available. Our window treatments are one of kind with gorgeous complimenting fabrics....everyone who sees them asks me where I had them made! We worked within my budget...Kathleen let me know when the promotions began and ended for the pieces I had decided on and I just can't say enough about how gorgeous and happy I am with my home design by Ethan Allen! I recommend Kathleen without reservation. She is the type of sales person you can be honest with and she takes time to understand your vision while contributing her design ideas....

Kathleen is awesome! The design she came up with for our new home was spot on. It's better than we ever could have imagined and looks like something you would see in a magazine. She asked questions and listened to what we had to say about what we like and dislike. Every time I walk into our home it makes me happy and I have to remind myself that I live here! Kathleen designed a living room for us, and it is beautiful! We were pleased not only with the end result, but with the ease of working with Kathleen. She had a way of making both my husband and me feel comfortable, and she was really good at helping me (I tend to be a bit indecisive) make decisions. She was also willing to work around some wooden pieces my husband had built. I especially love the unique window treatments! I would definitely recommend this talented and personable designer!

We've worked with Kathleen several times over the past five years. Our first project was furnishing a formal living room at our former home. My husband and I had visited many furniture stores and didn't ever find someone that we could both connect with. Kathleen was warm, personable, and really listened to our needs. The first formal living room turned out perfectly. Shortly after we finished that project, we decided we needed to think about a larger home for our family. We moved in July 2011 and called Kathleen again to help us. She helped us to rearrange the furniture from the former formal living room into our new family room and also made recommendations for our formal dining room, formal sitting room and kitchen in the new house. While we loved all the designs, we couldn't afford to do everything at once, so we started with the dining room. The pieces she chose were all beautiful heirloom quality pieces that complemented our home and our style perfectly. She also recommended window treatments that pulled in all the colors we needed. Love this room! Next, we purchased a kitchen table and chairs from Kathleen. Again, perfect fit, just what we were looking for. The final room was the formal sitting room. We started this in the fall of 2012 and we were able to pull together the entire first floor of the house without the entire house looking identical. Kathleen's approach is personable, friendly and very approachable. In fact, we trusted Kathleen so much that when our painter became available to paint our first floor in the fall of 2012, we turned to Kathleen. We happened to be on vacation that week. I asked our housesitter to leave the house open for Kathleen and she left paint recommendations for the painter. Our trust for Kathleen was so implicit that we went ahead with all the paint recommendations for the entire first floor (open floor plan: kitchen, family room, dining room, foyer, formal sitting room, powder room, laundry room) without even seeing the colors first. The house came out perfectly thanks to Kathleen's touch! I would highly recommend Kathleen for any home decorating needs.

Kathleen is an amazing and talented designer. We love her color sense, interesting use of material and unique perspective. She is highly creative as well as sharp and organized. Kathleen worked with us to create a distinct living space that is uniquely our own. We loved working with Kathleen!

I have had the pleasure of working with Kathleen on not just one, but two houses, and at least twelve rooms throughout the years! Our relationship began after my parents had recommended talking with her about an upcoming kitchen/family room remodel. My parents were instantly smitten with Kathleen's combination of a winning, warm personality and an excellent eye for design. When she came to my house for that first visit, I understood exactly why they had suggested her to me. Kathleen has that rare talent of being able to translate vague half-descriptions of home furnishing longings into designs that seamlessly blend into your home and just fit in with your family. She listens well, filtering that information into her endlessly inventive mind, and inevitably creates options for you that reflect your personal design aesthetic (even if you never knew that you had one!). This may sound a bit geekish, but I have to admit that I would absolutely always look forward to the days when I would go to Ethan Allen (or Kathleen would come to my house) and she would show me the montage that she assembled to exhibit in miniature the design for whatever room that we were furnishing. Her enthusiasm was always contagious, and I was always excited by what she was showing me. Without fail, though, she was sensitive to any concerns that I brought up, and made adjustments based on my feedback. Additionally, I always appreciated that when we were planning a redo of a room, she found just the right place not only for the new pieces, but also incorporated the pieces that I already owned. In short, she is an extremely talented designer who is delightful to work with, and an asset to any project. Without reservation, I highly recommend Kathleen!

Kathleen help design our entire house with furniture, rugs, lamps, drapes, bedding, etc. She handled everything from measuring every room in the house, windows. We talked about what we were looking for and color scheme and style. We went back two weeks later and everything was laid out, swatches, room/furniture layouts, pictures of lamps, furniture, etc. And exactly 3 months later a truck full of furniture arrived and she was there to make sure everything was perfect, pieces were where they should be. She even helped with art work and accessories. Never over selling us, she nailed everything on the head. She was even great with my husband who is very picky. Our house looks like a show piece thanks to Kathleen.
