Bessey saved my bacon ! when i had to fire the original GC , they stepped up and finished the job... on time and below budget. best part of dealing with them was when surprises hit the project and i could have been bent over the barrel, they worked with me fairly and "helped me thru" with creative ideas and ways to solve the problem. happy to recommend them wholeheartedly !!!!

Bessey Construction built our 'dream house' in Nantucket. They were highly competitive in the market, extremely knowledgeable about the very exacting (and sometimes arcane) building code, historic and environmental requirements, and always honest and honorable. We found them extremely good to work with. We spoke daily with either J.D. Bessey, or Laura Bessey, or both, during the 1 year + of the construction.The craftsmanship and finished product was fabulous. I have recommended them to others, and will continue to do so.

Excellent quality finish work and high quality in-house framing. Large team has lots of depth to engineer/ execute unique and challenging finishes.

The excitement of moving into our newly built home is hardly comparable to anything. We have been 100% satisfied with Bessey Construction and of all their giant crew of sub-contractors. The Besseys could not be better. Excellent, timely work that came in under budget. Project supervisor Derek was knowledgeable, hard-working, and professional. Monica was great with specifics of Kitchen design, fixtures, lights, colors. Laura and JD, the owners, kept things on track and were helpful and responsive. Hats off to JD for creating careful estimate and to Laura for tracking budget and expenditures and providing excellent documentation. Terrific team effort completely responsive to client needs. Outstanding quality to the smallest detail. Particularly notable in working with us while were hundreds of miles away and for completing project on time. Our home was newly built for a developer by Bessey Construction. We got to know JD and Laura Bessey and their staff just before we purchased the house and worked closely with them on completion of punch list items. During our first summer, we had plans prepared to turn the lower level into additional living space. Bessey Construction provided a comprehensive proposal with terms that we felt were very competitive. Bessey Construction did an outstanding job on the project and we are extremely pleased with the way it turned out. The craftsmanship was terrific and our desire to have a living space of similar quality as in the rest of the home was easily met. We appreciate the fact that Bessey Construction has a large crew under the company’s employ and that most of the subcontractors they use live on the island. We would not hesitate to have Bessey Construction handle a future project including new construction. We appreciate the attention by JD, Laura and their supervisory staff to the details and also the fact that the crew and subcontractors are highly experienced and able to work efficiently without being overly supervised. For typical Nantucket projects where the homeowner is likely not to be present at all times, these attributes of a general contractor are key.

I genuinely enjoyed working with Bessey Construction. From start to finish, they were incredible communicators and very easy to work with. Their work is top quality and the team that they have in place are incredibly responsible. Nantucket is a very difficult building environment and Bessey Construction has the connections to get high end jobs done in a timely manner. I have recommended their business for years and will continue to do so.
