Marren Architects

Marty Marren was our architect for the expansion and redesign of our Federal Hill house to accommodate more space for ourselves and our new daughter. He listened carefully, patiently put up with our changes of mind, answered our questions fully, identified and walked us through some issues we had not expected, came up with some key ideas, was always prompt, found a very good contractor for us and was very reasonable in his fees. We would definitely go back to Marty for any other architectural work in this area.

We hired Marren Architects to design a renovation of the main floor of our circa 1900 rowhome overlooking the Inner Harbor in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore. The project included removing a closed-in catering kitchen, replacing it with a modern open kitchen, re-imagining the front living room by creating a new fireplace surround and adding built-in cabinetry, replacing the back wall of windows with folding glass wall and adding a deck to create much needed outdoor living space. Martin Marren is a very thoughtful, client-focused architect. He was particularly adept at understanding our desires for the space and translating them into a design that was as beautiful as it was liveable. The transformation of our home was spectacular. In any renovation of a 100 year-old home you are sure to run into unexpected challenges and we ran into our fair share. It's important to note that Martin stayed involved in the project until the construction was complete. He partnered well with our contractor and ensured the final product was faithful to the design down to the smallest details. He is extremely easy to work with and we would definitely work with him again if the opportunity arises.

Marty is very knowledgeable, especially when dealing with historic homes. He was very helpful in scoping the project to remain within budget while meeting our desired results. He has a talent for bringing timeless aesthetics and modern amenities into older homes. He works well with others, and he was always able to provide multiple options to chose from that fell in line with our design concept. We love our new kitchen and are working with him on a bathroom renovation. We highly recommend Marren Architects!
