Do not recommend. Our new house has a number of issues. They cannot manage their subcontractors (one example of many is the fact the painting subcontractor had to come 4 times and still paint and chaulking is cracked, two toned, not complete, etc). Our electrical keeps tripping and we believe the electrical was not installed to code. Items that were on our punchlist are unresolved since late 2020 and they are claimed they have plans to resolve but anytime we ask for items in writing, we are unable to get proof. Door frame damaged by builder. Scratches all over floors and bathroom tub in jack and jill bathroom. Cabinets damaged during construction yet to be repaired (claim they will but no guarantee on the cabinets to be replaced will ever get replaced). Stone work inside and outside is shotty with missing mortar spots (see example). The technical list of poor workmanship goes on. On a contract level, Mike is highly unprofessional as other reviewers have noted and is certainly demeaning to women. Sherri will claim you said something when you didn't. They tried to charge us many times for items for incorrect or duplicate (ex. Painting for basement was included in add on room cost but they tried to charge us seperately to paint dry wall and put in flooring in same room. Original agreement for room included flooring and basic paint). Put everything in writing because you will be in legal disputes if you use them. The best was finding that their painter wrote words into the wall thinking no one would notice. Clearly their own subcontractor does not think highly of the builder to stoop to this level of BS. These photos are a small fraction of the workmanship issues.

RUN away as fast as you can from this company. Not only is their customer service despicable, Mike has a blatant disrespect towards women. Mike screamed and yelled, lied about missed meetings, lied about decisions made. Mike and his colleagues were extremely unprofessional and late to multiple meetings with no acknowledgment. Building a home should be exciting for someone, not a process where you are lied to and screamed at. We went through the design process and would have to relay multiple times what we wanted and Mike had no clue what was going on. Floor plans came back incorrect multiple times and Mike would place the blame on us stating that’s what we told him, even though we would forward emails proving what was discussed. It was so bad it got to the point where you just couldn’t work with him. We decided it was best to lose some money than go through the process of building with him. If it was this bad during the design process I can’t even imagine what it would be like building with him. We were worried we would show up to our house one day and it would be a completely different design and floor plan. It took 5 months with lawyers to get some of our money back, because of his lack of response. Very disappointed in every aspect of this company and the way they run their business.

We are building a new home with Modern Home Concepts and have been very satisfied! Mike is extremely knowledgeable and has put together an entire team to guide his clients through the process from start to finish. That has been especially helpful to us, as we are relocating from out-of-state. Mike and his team have been very attentive to the vision we have for our new home and want to make sure we are completely satisfied. Everyone has been very friendly to work with and easily accessible through this process. Thank you Mike and the entire Modern Home Concepts team!

We purchased a custom home from Modern Home Concepts this year. Overall it was a great building experience. Having built a home years ago with Wayne Homes the difference between a large company and a custom builder are fairly striking, mainly in the amount of choice and control you have over the project. Even though when we purchased the home the foundation was already laid we were able to make reasonable modifications to the floorplan and tack on some additions. The staff is responsive to needs and concerns during the process and they accommodated our desire to frequently visit and review the construction of the house. We kept a blog and everything. Case in point: We picked a backsplash tile pattern for the kitchen and before it was finished grouting my wife had a very negative reaction to one of the colors she picked. The workers got with MHC and they spent a day removing the color she didn't like and getting a more pleasing pattern in. Throughout the process there was a lot of good advice given and the quality of the contractors used in all phases was very good. TLDR; We are pleased, would buy again (though hopefully not since this house is great and we have no plans to leave!)

I have toured his homes and although I have not lived in one, if we were building and energy efficient home I would not hesitate to use him. His designs are beautiful and his attention to detail is impeccable.

Having built several homes in the past, we can honestly say the experience with Modern Home Concepts has been the best by far. The attention to detail from the staff, helpful input into the design concepts and speedy email/calls has made this the least stressful and most fun build ever! Katie F. has been fantastic in walking us through all of our design choices and making helpful suggestions when we were honestly stuck. We especially appreciate the professionalism in designing our retirement "dream" home, and since we have not won the lottery yet, the staff has been helpful with our budget without sacrificing our "vision".
