Rainville Design Studio (rDS) is a full service landscape design firm based in Los Angeles. Our practice is defined by both artistry and technical expertise. Our designs create experiences for our clients that enhance their lives in a sustainable and restorative manner. A less-is-more design mindset results in the highlighting of key elements at different moments, and heightens the perceptions of multiple factors - such as space, color, textures, smell, sound and movement - as a person moves through, and inhabits, our spaces. We are continually mindful of the footprints we create in the world, be it in the design or construction phases of our projects. We strive to work in the most regenerative manner possible, and to emphasize this goal while working together with our clients. Led by Miriam Rainville, rDS follows a holistic approach to design. Following the lead of the building aesthetic, rDS develops all aspects of a site, including hardscape layout and materials, plant materials, water usage, site furnishings, special features, lighting, and more. Restraint is a key driver of our design perspective. Whether the client desires a lush and enveloping space, or a sparse minimal experience, each element of the design is included mindfully and purposefully.
