Robin designed and managed our kitchen and pantry remodel. We enjoyed working with her. She was professional and responsive. She recommended Irish Construction who did excellent work. She also redecorated our laundry room. We love our new kitchen pantry and laundry room. She helped us redecorate and update our family and sitting rooms.

Robin was fantastic to work with. We were furnishing a new home completely from scratch, and she was pedal-to-the-metal from day one. She was always communicative, keeping us updated on shipping timelines, presenting multiple furnishing options, and quickly stepping in whenever issues arose. Robin is a true professional. We consider ourselves fortunate to have worked with Robin on the interior design of our lakes region home. With a full house needing to be furnished and a tight timeline, we put a lot on Robin’s shoulders and she pulled it off with aplomb. Robin has a keen eye for what will look and work best in various living spaces, but is not dogmatic in her design approach. Robin also worked well in collaborating with our architect to unify the design elements throughout our home. Robin knows where to source beautiful and unique design elements and provides sage advice on where best to invest one’s decorating dollars. Moreover, Robin is very much a hands-on participant in the process. In our case, Robin was moving furniture with us on our move-in date (which happened to coincide with a snowstorm). We would not hesitate to recommend Robin to anyone looking for interior decorating advice.

Robin is amazing and a joy to work with. My husband and I were working on a lake house renovation remotely. Robin did a great job helping us choose the furnishing and also coordinated the delivery and set up of furniture and rugs. We could not have done it without her!

Robin absolutely knocked it out of the park with our “mountain modern” home adventure, and she was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She is a total pro - always quick to respond to emails and texts, and never left us hanging or feeling like we were in the dark. As far as the final product - we are truly thrilled! It has been a fantastic experience working with Robin. I had never worked with a decorator before and I was very happy to find Robin in Houzz. We hired her to redo 2 spaces (living room and a common use room in a finished basement), both of which we had sparsely furnished but never decorated. She totally transformed the space and we loved what she did so much that we are currently working with her for 2 more rooms in our home. She is easy to communicate with, straightforward and transparent in her invoicing, and really great at working within a budget. She is very resourceful to make the vision come to life. She is a good listener and takes the time to learn your style. I wish that I could figure out how to include pics in my review because we are so proud of our new space, but you can see from her profile pics that she can work with different styles and uses space very well. I highly recommend her services.

I have worked with Robin for over year now. She helped stage my last place for sale, and has worked with me on my high end condo in downtown Portland from pre-construction design through completion. She has done a fantastic job learning my style and what I like all while keeping cost as an important consideration. It has been a pleasure working with Robin, and i intend to use her services for my next anticipated home construction project.

There aren't enough stars to rate Robin on this review! We are so grateful for her commitment to task in turning our entire lake house into a masterpiece on a budget and timeline that seemed almost impossible. We have since engaged her on more projects for AirBNB investments and she is the most valuable member on the team. She helps on everything from project management to selecting the most incredible design finds on a business friendly budget. No detail will ever go unthought of. We love Robin and can't live without her!!

I have worked with Robin on two projects - one a refresh / update of a room and the second on the remodel of two bathrooms simultaneously. Robin always had a positive attitude and was able to keep the projects running on schedule. She had great ideas and helped me figure out my vision. She was able to bring in excellent subs that were also a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to use her again and actually look forward to working with her again on another project.

Trying to decorate our new seasonal home in Cape Elizabeth while wintering in Ohio was next to impossible. Thank heavens we found Robin and Design for Less! She sourced and shopped for us and sent us pictures for our approval, then purchased, transported and installed each purchase and sent us a picture of the outcome! Incredible service and her "sometime" assistant, Caroline, was awesome! Robin will remain on our "go to" list forever!

I needed some staging of home for an upcoming sale. Robin was a delight to work with. She's motivated, cheery, and spot on with her choices and recommendations. Home renovation can be such a daunting prospect! After surfing the web for products and visiting home improvement stores I realized that I could not initiate my bathroom renovation without the help of a professional. While surfing HOUZZ photos I decided to click on professionals in my area. Lo and behold Robin's website drew my attention. I liked her no nonsense approach and photos that made this project seem realistic to my taste and my needs. She contacted me immediately after my initial query and we met within a week, Shortly thereafter she brought by her amazing team and our ideas became a plan. Product knowledge and artistic insight impressed me and were so in tune with my vision and my budget. She is a great, easing going, knowledgable professional and terrific to work with. My new bathroom is gorgeous! I have recommended her to all my friends and will call on her again when I need further help in renovation of my condo in Portland.

We were finishing up our kitchen remodel and it was (finally!) time to pick paint colors. In addition to our kitchen, we also wanted the adjoining mudroom, bathroom and family room painted. Our kitchen designer's interest in our project had long waned and we wanted to work with someone that was interested and excited about helping with these final decisions. I contacted Robin after seeing her info on houzz-- and she came out within 48 hours on a Saturday morning (!) and guided us to choosing paint colors that are just beautiful. In addition, our contractor could not get his painter scheduled for at least three weeks-- so again Robin stepped in, contacted her painter-- and within a week, the rooms were painted, the quality is great and it was done at a reasonable price. We had only hired Robin for a color consultation, but as it ended up, she was instrumental in getting the last steps of our remodel completed.

My husband and I recently purchased a house that required renovations and updates. We knew what we wanted to do for work and had our own ideas about decorating, but wanted to consult an expert who would provide us their professional guidance along the way. We found Robin on the Houzz website and contacted her for a consultation. Robin was able to meet all of our needs by being flexible with our schedules and our limited budget. She was friendly, personable, and professional. Robin came prepared with ideas, samples of curtains, tile, wood floor, and paint colors. I was living in NY but moving to Maine and needed help with renovating and furnishing our Condo. I wanted to have the condo ready for move in but wouldn’t be able to be in Maine to oversee renovations or furnishings. Also as a full time working mother of 3 children under 4 (1 newborn at the time!) I had NO time to devote to this project. So I decided to use the help of an interior decorator. After some research of companies through Houzz, I decided to try Design For Less. Robin was amazing to work with and I am so thankful I was able to find her! She listened to what I wanted and delivered in every way. Because I was living in NY and unable to get to Maine frequently, I had to trust Robin with every detail. From our first phone meeting I knew I made the right choice! I told her what I was looking for and our needs/budget and Robin took control right away and delivered beyond what I was expecting. Our place is still a work in progress - tackling additional rooms and we are still working with Robin to help us complete our new home. I couldn’t imagine going through this process with anyone else! Having purchased and moved into our first house in December, I had never worked with an interior decorator before. On the nagging suspicion that choosing paint colors for a big house wouldn't be as straightforward as it seemed, I decided to look for help, and because I had no idea where to start looking, I turned to Houzz. Robin's ad immediately caught my eye because, even though we had never met, I felt comfortable reading it; she seemed down-to-earth, her designs weren't too fussy, and she had specifically written that she wanted her designs to be affordable and livable, particularly for children (At the time, our son was a curious, energetic three.). I sent her an email, expecting to hear back in a couple days, but she immediately wrote me back...and we haven't looked back! Our house has been an ongoing project, and what I really appreciate is that Robin not just has great taste, but is totally open to working with my opinions and ideas as well. Robin started with helping me choose paint colors, carpet and rugs, and installing blinds all around the house. She has helped me choose furniture, lighting and drapery, and spearheaded recovering the cushions on our kitchen stools. With Robin's help (and her referrals to painters, an electrician, and a fantastic contractor, all of whom are completely skilled, reasonably priced and trustworthy), we have transformed what was a great house into an amazing home. She is upbeat, organized and, very importantly, accessible...no waiting days for her to respond (I even took pictures of some bedroom furniture in the store and sent them to her, and she helped us make the decision real-time.)! Her design services are extremely reasonable, and have been, and continue to be, invaluable to us.

Robin has an amazing eye for detail and design. When I opened my photo studio in the heart of Portland, Maine I knew she was the one for the job. She took my few requests and made them into a beautiful story with her experience, sense of style, texture, and cohesion. The space is even more lovely than I could have ever imagined and everyone comments on how beautifully put together it is. It is a joy to come to work in this space everyday knowing that it not only reflects myself, but also who I want to portray to my clients. I highly recommend Robin for any project great or small.

We purchased a 2-bedroom 2-bath condo in Portland, Maine, in a newly constructed upscale building as a second home. Since we were living in New York, we needed local assistance getting the apartment ready for occupancy. And since I knew what I wanted for furnishings, I really just needed someone to manage the project and provide consulting on finishes and upgrades at an affordable rate. I found Robin on Houzz, and it was a match made in heaven. She was not offended at all that I wanted to select my own furnishings, and provided helpful and tasteful design consulting when needed (paint colors, window treatments, carpets, crown molding, tile, and carpentry and electrical upgrades.) Robin has a crew of skilled professionals that she works closely with, and the end result was a gorgeous new apartment completed on time and on budget and to our exact specifications, and with minimal stress and hassles! Robin was always willing to help with any task, even those as mundane as receiving deliveries or moving boxes into our apartment. Her billing rate was an incredible bargain for the level of expertise and personal attention we received. And best of all, we now consider her a dear friend and think very fondly of her while enjoying our beautiful new home!

Robin is AWESOME!! She has worked with us on several house projects including most of the rooms in our house. We love the results and always get compliments from our guests. We lived in the house for years and just couldn’t find the time and /or agree on paint colors, styles and room arrangements. We are a busy family with numerous daily schedule demands. It was important for us to balance both aesthetics and function. Robin understood our needs and was able to design and implement a plan while always cognizant of our time and budget. The communication throughout the projects was outstanding. One of the biggest challenges was our desire to utilize family “heirlooms” that had been passed onto us. The pieces were not representative of our style. Robin figured out creative ways to “update” the treasured furniture pieces o that they are now showpieces! Additionally, she “repurposed” a number of our dated lamps, tables, frames, etc. so they now compliment the space. We also shopped for new items using a strict budget. Robin made simple changes to our purchases that resulted in pieces having a “specialized” look. We love our redesigned space! It’s beautiful, comfortable and functional. Throughout the process, Robin was enthusiastic, flexible, and organized. She is knowledgeable and current with design trends. We are grateful for Robin’s involvement in all of our projects. She made our home look fabulous with a low budget.

Over the past 5 months, Robin has helped us update 5 of our 6 inn rooms and our common areas. We contacted Robin because she promotes the concept of repurposing. We wanted to add as little to the landfill as possible. We did not want to repaint or buy new furniture for our guest rooms and common areas, but they needed some jazzing up. She did this with pillows, lamps, artwork and fresh fabrics reupholstering tired but still viable furniture. Our guests write such comments as "a magnificent nest", "the inn is really beautiful, I especially liked the common areas", "simply lovely". What better testimony is there? Thanks Robin!

Design For Less worked as a designer and project manager to remodel our kitchen, dining room and mudroom. Robin worked with us to discuss options and led the team of contractors to transform the space within budget and a short time frame. She has an amazing sense of design and people, such that our space is now so much more usable, and feels more spacious, pleasant, and organized. We were particularly impressed that the job got done on time and gave us everything we hoped for and more. Robin repurposed and reupholstered items to enhance the job, while keeping within budget. She was very easy to work with and interfaced with all of the people involved with the project so we did not have to worry about it. We highly recommend her.

I hired Robin to help me re-decorate my bathrooms. She expertly guided me through paint color choices, as well as bathroom fixtures, lights, towels...everything to make the bathrooms look updated & brand new. The contractor crew was also wonderful...everything done to the last detail & on time. I would definitely work w/ Robin & her crew again...the bathrooms looks wonderful!
