Building our home with Renewal Homes in 2021 was, unfortunately, one of the most stressful and disappointing experiences our family has ever gone through. When you build a dream home, you expect excitement, quality workmanship, and accountability. Instead, we experienced disorganization, poor oversight, construction issues, and ongoing repairs that have cost us nearly $100,000 to address since moving in. From the beginning, there was very little accountability from our project manager or subcontractors. The project management was so disorganized that our project manager would regularly call and text me asking for updates on the progress of the house. At one point, we were told construction was delayed because flooring had not arrived, despite the flooring sitting in our living room for weeks. Communication was equally frustrating. Whenever we reached out to our project manager with questions or concerns, he rarely seemed to have time to talk and often made it feel as though we were inconveniencing him simply by asking for updates or requesting help. For a project of this magnitude, homeowners should never feel like they are a burden. Subcontractor management was equally concerning. Drywall installers were smoking inside the home during construction. The siding crew was only staying a few hours per day, and I ultimately paid them cash out of my own pocket to encourage them to stay longer and help keep the project moving. The problems did not stop after move-in. Since taking ownership, we have dealt with issue after issue that no homeowner should face in a newly built home: Multiple leaking pipes causing water damage Doors that do not close properly Windows that leak during rain Interior stairs that failed within the first three years and required replacement Incorrectly installed patio ceiling requiring outside repair Concrete driveway and patio sinking because pilings were not installed despite the soil report recommending them Master shower drain and washing machine draining directly into the crawl space because they were never properly connected Over $10,000 in HVAC repairs Repeated master shower leaks requiring multiple repairs Body jet in the master shower failing within the first month after move-in The list honestly continues beyond this. Because of the extent of the problems, we have hired outside contractors, specialists, and engineers to evaluate and repair many of these issues. Multiple professionals have commented on the low-quality materials used throughout the home. In several cases, contractors uncovering and repairing defects found installations and workmanship issues so surprising that they literally stopped to point them out because they could not believe what they were seeing. Hearing experienced tradespeople react that way to a relatively new home has been incredibly discouraging.

My husband and I were very nervous and excited to build our home we plan to be forever and met with a few builders before we chose Renewal. I had a vision of what I wanted and my husband had a budget he wanted to stick with. Wendell spent months with us tweaking our blueprint trying to get all my wants while being cautious about budget. He took time to get to know us and not just what we wanted in a house but why that is what would work for our family. The whole process was smooth and actually went so fast once we broke ground. We could not be happier with the project from start to finish! There were no surprises in the end and we never felt overwhelmed with anything because they keep it all organized. Wendell is very honest and we felt each person he had in our home working did a great job for us and shared the overall integrity of Renewal Homes. We still have some basement to finish and some added projects and wouldn’t have anyone but Renewal complete these!

My wife and I enjoyed working with Renewal Homes on our new home build. We were told many cautionary tales about building homes, but with Renewal, the process was easy and exciting.
