The project went well from beginning to the end. They identified issues and provided professional options with the cost impact to each. Using the CoConstruct app, I was able to view the progress, costs and variances as the project progressed. That was great tool. All the subcontractors, top quality, easy to work with, and finish quality top notch.

It takes courage, competence and confidence to commit to a major remodel of a 110 year old house, because it’s impossible to know in advance what challenges await once the walls come down. Robertson Builders presented a sound, realistic budget proposal and consistently worked to stay within the estimates made. The inevitable surprises were handled expertly by Ryan Leadbetter, our unflappable contract manager. Ryan’s deep experience, expertise and attention to detail proved invaluable and (I’m guessing) managed to avoid hundreds of potential missteps, for which we are grateful. We witnessed Ryan's ability to downshift gears when necessary, slowing down to give complex decisions their due. The CoConstruct software used provided full transparency on costs and building schedule, and proved to be a useful tool for this company that places a high value on communicating in a clear and timely manner. Strongly recommend them. I was impressed that all of their sub-contractors were highly skilled and quality oriented. My expectations for quality work was high and they exceeded them. Workers were there every day, there was no downtime waiting for the next tradesman to show up. Remodels are expensive and I will live in the house for years so I wanted the best for my money, and I feel that I got it with Robertson Builders!

Robertson Builders gave us a complete remodel of our Avila Valley home. Every surface was updated or rebuilt. It was a long process, because of the scope of work and because we started during the pandemic and experienced production delays (not Robertson's fault). In fact, they foresaw some issues and advised us accordingly so that we could make decisions quickly. As the process continued, we dealt with issues/decisions not originally within the scope of work (leaking roof, decision to remodel kitchen, decision to replace decks). Communication was excellent throughout. When I presented Robertson with a hard move-in date, forced by personal issues, they made it happen. Robertson worked well with our design team. Everyone got along! The portal that Robertson uses to communicate with clients keeps everyone informed: photos saved, emails tracked, budget tracked, etc. We recommend Robertson Builders wholeheartedly!

We used Dusty and Chad Robertson of Robertson Builders for our first remodel project several years ago. The kitchen project was seamless and surpassed our expectations. Therefore, when we were ready to start the bathroom remodels, we contacted them again. Finally, we decided to replace and upgrade our fireplace and mantle. Every aspect of each job met our expectations. The crews were professional, accommodating, respectful, clean and orderly, and finished the projects within the timeframe given. I highly recommend Robertson Construction if you are looking for exceptional work. I’ve referred them to many friends. You won’t be disappointed!

My wife and I had our 3,000 square foot ranch house renovated by the Robertson Builders, Chad and Dusty, who are brothers. Chad was in the office, and Dusty was in the field; this is a family business that does residential remodeling. The house was 30 years old and needed upgrading from builder grade to designer grade materials. We focused on the kitchen, and master bath, jack and jill bath, and half-bath. Still, every room got painted, new drapes, and new or refinished flooring. It took 14 months to complete, but we had a dispute, and while amicably resolved, it took some time for the disputed job to be redone and progress to be rescheduled, thus the lengthy timing. Also, we had the downstairs renovated first while we lived upstairs in a granny flat, and then the upstairs renovated while we lived downstairs in our renovated rooms, and then the pandemic hit. The price was competitive, which we discovered by interviewing 5 general contractors, and the brothers stuck to our budget. What kind of experience do they have? When we asked for 3 references, they gave us 3 pages of references. We checked that they are licensed and carry insurance. They respected our design plans (as we provided cad-like drawings that we prepared ourselves based on blue-prints of the house) and helped us find alternatives when choosing products, appliances, and materials. They charged for work completed and acted patiently when one of our first checks seemed to “bounce.” Their sub-contractors worked professionally and interacted with us respectfully. The brothers were agreeable to us sub-contracting some work with their sub-contractors ourselves. The site was kept clean. The brothers were obsessive about staying in touch and kept contact by email based on our preferences. We highly recommend doing business with the Robertson Brothers and plan to hire them again in the future when we downsize to a bungalow.

We couldn't be happier with our new remodel. Robertson Builders have an artistic eye and professional business ethic. Chad, Dusty and the rest of the guys were courteous and conscientious. Whenever an inevitable problem arises, they are here in a timely manner and take care of things, even after 2 years! Thanks so much guys. My wife and I had the good fortune to find and use Robertson’s Builders to build our dream home in Arroyo Grande. We have only the most positive things to say about Chad, Dusty and the rest of the Robertson’s crew and staff. We found the Robertson’s team to be very professional, great communicators and provided a high quality level of workmanship. To summarize, we could not be happier than we are with the experience we had with Robertson’s Builders, and we highly recommend Chad, Dusty and their crew without reservation for any project you might have in mind.

Robertson Builders did an outstanding job on a major remodel project on our 120 yr. old Victorian, which involved a demolition of some existing structure, rebuilding a 3-story extension from the foundation up and remodeling the kitchen. Everyone working for Robertson, including their hand-picked subs, conduct themselves as true professionals and did high quality work. It was a pleasure to work with them and I have already hired them to do some follow-up work.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Robertson Builders. Our architect, Bryce Engstrom, recommended Robertson as a possible contractor to complete a face lift on the front of our house and adjacent guest house. The work included demolition of all brick, vents and hardi-board on the front of the house (basically a complete stripping of the entire exterior façade), installation of new stone, hardi-board, corbels, vents, windows, gutters, downspouts, and an extensive remodel of the entrance to our house which included a new roofed entry with stone pillars and a new sidewalk. Chad Robertson provided an itemized estimate of labor and materials and kept us up-to-date on any possible changes to those costs (which are inevitable with a remodel). We never experienced a surprise throughout the whole construction period. Dusty Robertson managed the construction and oversaw a crew of carpenters, painters and laborers. Specifically, Nathan, Brad and Jason were not just carpenters but rather exceptionally talented craftsman, meticulous in their detail work and very easy to deal with (which is important, since they were with us 4 months). Vince was a very competent painter and did excellent detail work. Chris was a jack-of-all trades, with a great sense of humor and a hard working guy. All were a pleasure to work with. Gary Bailey Masonry, a subcontractor of Robertson’s, did the stone work on the project and his mason, Rick, did outstanding work. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Dusty was always mindful of costs, paid attention to the finest of details and regularly communicated with us on the myriad of topics related to the project. At one point, when our roofing work was still unfinished, he came to our house on a Sunday on his own initiative and installed temporary gutters and downspouts because rain was forecasted for the next day. This is only one example of the many times Dusty went above and beyond what one would normally expect from a contractor. We are grateful for his thoughtfulness and consideration throughout the whole constructions time.
