Rustic 101

Don’t use another company for your gates. Things don't always go as planned but it is how the company handles imperfection that defines their greatness....I ordered some gates using reclaimed wood but when they arrived my mom was upset that they had nail holes in them. Oh mom. I called the company and they had them remade and installed. While the installer was there my mom asked him to fix the lock on our front door that has been broken for a year and he did it with out charging her. I'm so appreciative.

James and the Rustic 101 crew are the very best. Excellent quality custom door and side gates expertly installed. I searched all over San Diego county and Rustic 101 is far and away the best. We couldn’t be happier.

I hired Rustic 101 to build a gate for an enclosed patio. It is excellent. If I ever need another gate or woodwork that is similar, I will definitely hire Rustic 101.

We had two jobs done by Jaime: a gate and arched trellis. Both metal with a good, rust resistant brown finish. Both were done impeccably. Jaime is a true gentleman and an excellent businessman.

We cannot recommend Rustic 101 or James Adame. We purchased a bookcase from his showroom which had tons of character "old wood." Well the worm holes were still active! We had to pay to have it tented/fumigated, as it is infested. All of our belongings and books (which were covered in maggots) are also being fumigated and I hope we can save our belongings and that the worms did not spread to other parts of our home. Another large three piece wall book case unit we had custom made he sold to another customer and we had to wait for him to build another. The quality of the units he replaced it with was much more inferior and we hope will hold together over time. It looks like very cheap pine and you can see thru the slots in the wood. Just not very stable for a bookcase. Finally, although we had paid for shipping (we live in Northern California), he had refused to ship any of the furniture! He said he was in terrible financial straights, that he was going to have to close the business, and could not afford to ship our order or deliver it himself. Our order was stranded in southern California, and we had to hire someone privately to drive down there, rent a van and drive it back to the Bay Area. It was all very disappointing as Jame Adame was very pleasant to work with initially, and had made us a lovely hutch a few years before, which led us to believe it was safe to pay him and place a large order. What a nightmare it was in the end. I don't normally write reviews, but this was such a bad experience and we felt so taken by him.

We liked Jaime immediately when we met him. He was prepared with pictures, ideas and was not only open to our ideas, but had some of his own. He wears a smile and it comes from his heart...he loves what he does and it shows. We were given a sensible quote with beautifully drawn up plans for a double gate of iron and wood for our courtyard entry. Jaime's design for our gate tied into the design of a leaded glass door just steps away from the gate. We signed a contract with Jaime and he kept in contact with us throughout the process. He was a week or two off from what he had predicted as his installation date but kept us updated on the progress. He accompanied the installers to our job the day the gate was installed. The men who work for Rustic 101 are professional, polite, and very hard workers. They spent all day installing the gate and when they were finished ~ we couldn't have been happier with the product! We're still receiving kudos from neighbors about the beauty and uniqueness of our gate. It's spectacular, to say the least! We've since recommended several other homeowners to Jaime, who are equally happy with Rustic 101. Would I use Rustic 101 again? Absolutely! :D

Rustic101 was great to work with on our new front door. It was an easy process to select the door and fixtures. Everything is custom made in Mexico. The crew took great care in measuring everything twice! Once the door was available it took about a day to fully install it, change locks. Installation was very well done and they cleaned up completely afterwards. The door and hardware are beautiful and we get many great comments from our visitors and neighbors.

My husband and I are thrilled with our new gates! The wooden entry gate added such character and appeal to our home, not to mention it is a deterrent for those who are soliciting their business. Many people comment on our beautiful gate as they walk by because it makes such a statement. We also purchased a wrought iron gate for our side yard to keep our little dog from frightening visitors coming to the front door. Jaime made sure that both gates had an iron pattern consistent with one another, which makes them look classy. During the whole process, Jaime was very friendly and professional and made sure we were 100% satisfied. We would like to recommend Rustic 101 if you are thinking of adding a gate to your home. If nothing else, at least stop by the showroom to see what they offer and get a quote. We know you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of work that is put into their product. R & C Rodriguez

Rustic 101 is a fabulous company to work with. I gave them an idea all the way from Tennessee and they created a masterpiece. My dining room table is my most beloved piece of furniture in house. I get compliments from everybody who visits. They communicated well every step of the design process and were extremely reasonable on price. I highly recommend this company to anyone dreaming of a beautiful piece of furniture to last for many years to come.
