Sentinel Builders

My wife and I interviewed multiple builders before we found (were blessed with) Gary Duncan and Sentinel Builders. My wife and I were instantly comfortable with Gary Duncan and his personality. Needless to say to signed a contract to have Gary Duncan and Sentinel Builders build out custom Home and the outcome was more pleasing than we could have imagined. Gary is not arrogant but he is humble, professional, confident, capable, interested, straight forward, honest, and it is very evident that he cares about all the little details. Gary also has an overwhelming desire to please the customer which translates to items being done correctly the first time. This is construction so things do not always go perfectly but you can relax knowing that Gary Duncan will not hesitate to fix it. Most likely, Gary has already found an issue and either resolved it before you even knew it or has the fixed scheduled. Gary Duncan is on the job site frequently if not daily and was available for questions either on the job site or by phone throughout the entire day (days and evenings) and weekends. The service and high quality didn't end with the closing. It continues to this day. If I have a concern or question, Gary is there to help even when he has no obligation to do so. As for construction time, Gary gave a estimation was direct and honest throughout, always informing us of any possible delays including uncontrollable weather. The House was complete and we closed on the estimated schedule. Many of the other builders that we interviewed seemed to want to build the house to "their" desire and not the customers. Gary Duncan wanted to build the house that the customer wanted. He made recommendations throughout the process but it was always the customers decision. Gary Duncan also didn't shy away from saying what was good, bad, could be better, could save cost, and what was and was not needed. When it was time for choosing interior everything including but not limited to trim style, wall colors, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures and layout, door swings, outlet and switch placement, flooring (wood/tile/carpet) cabinets and tops, etc. Gary has fantastic system in place which included full and complete access to a TRUE on site always present interior designer (Cindy Hamby). Cindy was wonderful and so patient. She would go with us to the many stores and dealers and help us pick the perfect design, the perfect color, and the perfect choice. Cindy was a true blessing which made the enormous task of picking absolutely everything seem enjoyable and much less stressful. You can't put a price on that level of provided/included service and we used Cindy for almost everything. In regards to cost. Sentinel builders built the exact house that was discussed and did so at the exact original estimate. Gary Duncan's budget was not over inflated and unexplainable, as was the case of the multiple other builders interviewed. Gary Duncan provided a lengthy list of references and since he also develops neighborhoods such as Copperstone, it was easy to see his work in all stages of progress and observe his attention to detail and quality work. Gary Duncan's employees are polite, extremely professional, and very pleasant to be around. They work to please the customer as much as Gary Duncan himself (thanks Little Gary and Mike). Gary Duncan's employees are also very happy with their boss and work to please him as well. Gary Duncan treats his employees better than any other employer I have seen and it shows. He takes care of them, they take care of him and so on. I could go on but what needs to be said has been. Find out for yourself and you will not regret the decision. It would be difficult to find a custom home customer who is not pleased with their choice to use Gary Duncan and Sentinel Builders. He was a true blessing and continues to be so. He has also become a friend and that says a lot.

Working with Sentinel was a great choice for us. This was our first home build, and from start to finish the entire Sentinel company worked with us through the process. The bid was thorough (92pgs compared to 7pgs), leadership was involved and informative, project planning was coordinated online, and the trade groups were courteous and adaptable. After living in the home for 3 months, we're happy with the quality of construction, materials, and resolution of details that pop up on any new build.

Sentinel Builders is absolutely first class and second to none. We initially lived in a Sentinel Community Development, but were so impressed with the quality of home they had built, we contracted with them to build our first custom home. What we have found that makes Sentinel Builders different than other builders is their commitment to understanding and exceeding expectations at every step of the building process. Gary Duncan (owner) personally communicated with us throughout the entire project and continuously made himself available to answer our questions or provide information. Other key Sentinel Staff personally walked us through each of the various design phases, material procurements, and daily on-site updates. When challenges were faced, Sentinels staff came through with exceptional solutions. We are now living in our new home and thrilled beyond words. Something that I never expected to happen was that our various building code inspectors took time out of their day to contact us to let us know how thoroughly impressed they were with the construction methods and professionalism executed by Sentinel Builders and their Subcontractors. From the field to the office every staff member at Sentinel is committed to exceeding client expectations. We are thankful we selected a builder that had such qualified and talented individuals to deliver our home on time and in budget. Sentinel Builders excels at what they do, building beautiful homes and quality relationships.

An absolutely excellent company to work with. Owner, Gary and all of his crew that we dealt with were very professional and do whatever is necessary to satisfy their customer. In April of 2011 my house suffered major damage due to a hail storm. I was able to contact Sentinel Builders and within a few days David Woods had come by the house and completed an estimate. He worked directly with the adjuster from my homeowner's insurance. The office staff was friendly, and helpful. David was always available when I had questions regarding the repairs. Within a month's time I had a new roof, new siding, new shutters, new gutters, and a new garage door. Sentinel Builders did all the coordination and I did not have to worry about anything. I would highly recommend this company to others.

Sentinel Builders was so wonderful to work with. I had hail storm damage and they helped me with a list of miscellaneous items from small to large. In fact, the Project Manager found damage that was completely missed by everyone else, including my insurance adjuster. Due to that attention to detail and the efficient and professional way they handled my repairs, I have not hesitated to recommend them to neighbors, etc.

They were responsive, helpful, on time, and provided a reasonable cost with high quality work. They would suggest ways to accompish the desired product at less cost or easier, faster construction. They suggested options that I hadn't considered and I chose some of them. I was completely satisfied at the end of the project.
