Shady Grove Landscape Company

Just spent an amazing three weeks plus consultation time working with Fern (Tina) Cook and her crews at Shady Grove Landscape Company to transform our landscape. We had a 16-foot drop from the front of the house to the street, planted with overgrown Caressa hollies, Boxwoods and a Leyland Cyprus . With Fern’s help, we defined terrace levels (reducing from three to two) and reworked some of the landscape architecture’s recommended planting. Being an avid gardener, Fern allowed me to limit the work her company would do for us to hardscapes and larger plants. We cannot extol this company enough. Fern is unbelievable as a horticulturalist and landscape designer and her crews are comprised of the nicest most capable men you could ever allow into your landscape. This company is a 10 out of 10. We plan to hire them again back next year to renovate the back yard.

We couldn't be happier with our new pool decking, stone work and drainage solutions. I had a drainage problem around my pool and so I called Tina to take a look at it. We also wanted our coping around the pool done as well as redoing our concrete on the pool deck. We talked to a few different companies and after meeting with all of them, there was no doubt we wanted to work with Tina. We are so glad we went with that decision. Wow! I had aged landscape and a damaged and aging porch. Fern's ideas and Danny's implementation of the project were perfect. As additional needed improvements developed during the project, I was made aware of the issue and given the opportunity to approve the changes and was given a reasonable estimate of the time and additional charges. Not only did they repair and renovate the porch and landscape, they made sure all of the sprinklers were properly watering the new plants and even reprogrammed and expanded the system to best suit the new layout. Oh yeah, and the place was clean and presentable at the end of every day. It was like MAGIC.

Great company, excellent customer service, and the crew members were perfectionists. They rebuilt 3 stone walls and added a walkway and small rock 'patio' for my garden bench. I highly recommend them.

Tina listens well and is particularly gifted at creating a cohesive narrative of your random thoughts and then executing a beautiful product. Tina is incredibly knowledgeable and generous with her knowledge. You learn by working with her. I would hire her again with great enthusiasm.

I had Tina over to evaluate my entire yard. She was attentive to my concerns and wishes. She designed a great overall plan. I had the ability to to have what I wanted done in the plan according to my budget and time table. Her first projected included improving the drainage of my yard and adding a permeable patio by the basement door as well as a flagstone walk way. I looks great and works well because we have had some heavy days of rain since and my yard's standing water issue is no more. I recently retained her to start the second phase of my project so that it can blossom this spring. I can't wait. I highly recommend Tina and her team!

Shady Grove was referred to me by another vendor. I called and scheduled a meeting with Tina (owner). Tina is very professional, talented and very genuine. She made great suggestions and worked with my budget, given the condition of my backyard. Her crew came in on time and was very thorough in their work. Now I have a very beautiful backyard with great landscape that my family can finally enjoy.

Tina's plan was perfect for us and she really listened to what we wanted. It was great having Danny on site almost every day to answer questions. make changes, and corrections. The crews were all wonderful and worked hard to make us happy with the landscape plan. We plan to have Shady Grove back in the spring to lay out a design for our front yard and will recommend them to our neighbors.

My in-town neighborhood in Atlanta is situated along the upper boundary of a regional watershed. The roads follow the natural contours of the land, but many of the homes (constructed in the mid-1920s, including my Craftsman bungalow) were built at right-angles to a relatively steep hill. Like many of my neighbors, I'm faced with severe surface water runoff and a back yard that must be terraced if it's going to be at all functional. Back in the mid-1970s a previous owner had built a large raised garden running the width of the backyard about a third of the way from the rear lot line. By 2011, the wall supporting the garden was ready to collapse and the garden itself was overgrown, underused, and generally looked like crap. Simply stated, Shady Grove Landscapers designed and built a beautiful new curved retaining wall, including steps leading up to the garden situated in such a way that visitors are almost pulled into the back yard. They also did some further magic by installing a number of plants, shrubs, and even a small tree, so that my garden is now constantly changing and always a delight to look at. Best stroke of luck I'd had in years was discovering Shady Grove. There was, however, a downside to making a portion of my back yard so inviting and attractive; now the remainder of my yard simply didn't cut it anymore. So, in 2013 I replaced my ugly, dangerous, driveway and called Tina, who came out and explained how she could do her magic once again. Long story short (sort of) they regraded, replaced my annoying and invasive bermuda front and back with a wonderful variety of zoysia, installed several small eye-popping accent boulders in the front, and replaced an amateur-hour brick walk in the back with a graceful curving stone walkway. And after all that, the best part is the custom designed and built water feature they installed just off the back porch. I never imagined I'd have something like that in my yard, and now I can't imagine owning a home that doesn't have one. Best stroke of luck followed by the smartest move I'd made in years ... I wonder if they can recommend a good house painter?
