Stephen Roberts designed and executed a large and complex landscape project at my home in Longmeadow in the spring of 2020. We wanted to replace almost the entire front landscaping of the house, but we did want to keep some shrubs and plantings in the back and have him work around a large deck project. He had a blank slate in some areas and some tight (owner specified) constrictions in others. Stephen was extraordinarily knowledgeable about what plantings would work in different situations. He worked extremely well in concert with other contractors and two months in, the project looks fantastic. We threw a few curveballs at him along the way which he handled with ease. His crew was solid, he was in budget, and the outcome has added a great deal of value to our home.

From the planning stage where all of my ideas and input were gathered to the implementation of the vision, the entire process was seamless and I appreciated the constant communication I received throughout. Most importantly, the team members were amazing. They were very professional and also very friendly. These guys always said hello and asked how my day was going, it showed that these guys took an interest in their job and had pride in what they were doing. Finally, the attention to detail was also very impressive. There were a few small things that wanted to address and before I even had the chance to say anything they were being addressed and remedied. All of this, for me translated into pure excellence in their jobs!! Well done for employing such a remarkable team. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and this engagement was worth every penny.

I hired Stephen A. Roberts’ team to turn my hilly, weedy backyard into a perennial garden with Goshen stone steps and a stone dust access path. I had the vision in my head for years, but it was designer Steve Roach who brought it to life, and a 3-man crew who executed it in a mere 6 days. I was completely blown away by their speed and professionalism - even an unexpected ground nest of hornets didn’t slow down the team - and they left the yard very tidy. I also really appreciated their flexibility (I chose to move a few existing shrubs to another spot in the yard), and the way they adapted the plan to meet the engineering requirements of hardscaping on a hill (I now have a beautiful retaining wall that wasn’t in the initial plan). Steve was very accessible by email and explained every step thoroughly (I so appreciate contractors who communicate well!) I am really looking forward to watching things grow, adding to the garden, and enjoying the beauty of the space.

While we only had 4 yards of mulch delivered I just wanted to say that the experience was pleasant from beginning to end. I spoke to a nice woman on the phone who helped us choose what kind of mulch would work best for our needs. As for the delivery it was spot on. They said between 8-9 am and I received a call at roughly 8:05, saying he was just leaving and would be at my house in roughly 10 minutes. He was pleasant and confirmed where we wanted the mulch placed. I know this may seem like a small job. However since we were in the path of the tornado and dealt with all kinds of contactors I feel it is nice to point out the business that are a pleasure to deal with.

We engaged Stephen A. Roberts Landscape to replace all of the paved area around our back-yard swimming pool. The crews who did the work were courteous, neat, thorough, and considerate of all of our requests. They produced a beautiful area with new slabs and garden lighting, and left our property neatly cleaned up. The supervision by Pat Pugh was excellent. We would definitely recommend this company to others considering landscaping projects.

In 2004, we did a major project in our backyard including an inground pool, fire pit, and a multi level stone patio. Our landscape architect recommended Steve Roberts and crew to install the plants, trees and shrubs, which were varied and quite extensive. They did such a fabulous job, that we began a relationship that continues to this day. The team was out her this week! Steve and crew handle all of our landscaping needs, and have also done stonework for us -- new front steps and revisions to the fire pit. Steve is available, responsive, flexible and fun!. We highly recommend him without any reservation whatsoever.
