Krause Family Homes

We have hired Krause Family Homes for two projects now & they have continuously managed to exceed our expectations. Steve and his crew have stayed respectful, professional and in communication every step of the way. I consider them top-notch contractors, top-notch human beings and would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Steve and his crew were friendly & communicative throughout our dealings and eased a great deal of our potential stress. They were prompt, tidy and considerate every step of the way. KFH will be my first choice in all my future projects!

Steve and Krause Family Homes came highly recommended and their integrity did not disappoint. If you're looking for a contractor who will communicate directly prior to and during your project while being efficient, prompt, tidy and friendly, you should not look any further. I would trust Steve and his team to complete any project from large to small knowing that they will be attentive to detail and offer creative and functional design options. Wish I could give 10 stars.

Krause after about 7 estimates on a 2nd floor remodel of our 1830’s home which happened to belong to the first mayor of PortWashington. Krause price was not the highest but far from the lowest. As the house is being worked threw paper work to earn its Historic property title we decided to even the square footage between 4 rooms and a bath this way we could get the kiddos settled in. while we plan the lower lvl remodel. met with Steve and after talking with him me and my fiancé sat down to go over all the quotes . Krause quote was on the more expensive side 72k . We liked there attitude they looked very clean and healthy there website images show pristine work we liked everything we seen so we were willing to pay a premium to have him run the whole project ,we were givin a 6 week completion estimate. So we signed the contract “super exciting at this point”. we got the space ready and started sharing space with our 4 children in the living room . Here’s where it starts the project start day got delayed , ok no big deal crap happens . We finally get started demo took two days and the electrician , plumber , hvac , flooring and drywall guys all came in the first 2 weeks . Mind you I hired Steve to run the whole project while the other contractors were comming to my home there was maybe 1 or 2 days that Steve came so I was the guy micro managing this remodel I spoke to each contractor about price so I know what they were charging there was even an instance during the hvac where I was quoted 300 dollars an hour to clean out a chimney that was filled with debris left from the Krause’s removal of the second floor chimney stack. I told the guys I would do the labor myself and also let them know I had a 1900 dollar budget for hvac which he told me we would be fine . Work got finished by the hvac guys .Steve upcharged me 4500 2500 more dollars and Me doing labor !! This is where all the problems start. Electrician came and put in outlet boxes were at week four 2 weeks till deadline . He disappeared for awile I guess to a shoulder injury sighhh. The whole time no electricity on the second floor while contractors are working how can you possibly get quality work if you can’t see ?! At this point we barelly hear from Steve he never checks the contractors work he send to our home. This is when we realize something is wrong . Steve sends dry wallers to my home after inspector clears my property to close The walls, still no Steve the employees from the dry wall company spilled chili sauce f threw my house . I could go on for days . Nice guys in chat and speaking face to face but the quality of work they provided me and my fiancé was sad, Disrespectful , and very unprofessional. They ripped our home apart and just glued it back together

We added a large garage and connecting breezeway onto our home which was built in 1885. Krause Family Homes did an excellent job in listening to our construction requests to give the garage a carriage house appearance. We are very pleased with finished product as well as their attention to detail.

Used KFH for remodel/repair of screened deck. They replaced all screens using updated product, replaced framing as needed, then prime/paint finish. Proposal for work was received promptly following initial contact and was quite reasonable. Owner (Steve) was easy to work with, flexible regarding "surprise" repairs that were needed. Because most of work was done while no one was in residence, Steve's frequent emails on scheduling and progress updates were highly appreciated. We have already referred KFH to others.

We were extremely satisfied with Krause Family Homes. From the start of the project we had excellent communication with them: response time to questions was fast, they kept us up to date on the time frame, and we were given plenty of notice for arrival times. We appreciated the promptness of the crew and workers. The attention to detail on the project was outstanding. The custom floating shelves Krause built for us are a standout of the project. We thought the pricing was fair and the project came in just under budget. We definitely plan on using Krause Family Homes again for future projects.

I would highly recommend Steve and Nate for any of your home improvement or construction needs! Their communication throughout the process is exceptional. The workmanship and attention to detail are outstanding! We are very pleased with our tile backsplash they installed.

We had an excellent experience working with Krause Family Homes. They replaced our old, rotted wood deck with a beautiful composite deck and added on a 3 season room expansion to our home. The deck and room are gorgeous and we receive constant compliments from those who see it on the quality and craftsmanship of the work. Steve and Nate were wonderful to work with, communicative and transparent about every detail of the project. We would highly recommend to anyone!

Krause Family Homes - a contractor that actually answers phone calls, e-mails, & text messages - - promptly. We interviewed 4 contractors to remodel the guest bathroom in our condo to a ½ bath / laundry room. Among the 4, Krause showed the most interest, discussing alternatives to what we had expressed a desire for, and recommending options as to costs and timing of completion of the project. I was surprised at the interest Krause expressed in such a small job, but that interest and enthusiasm was followed daily by calls and correspondence. Midway through the project, while they were working in our condo, my wife whispered to me “I’m glad we hired them”. Professional, courteous, timely, quality workmanship, excellent communication, and a great sense of humor, all combined to make our experience with Krause Family Homes a very rewarding one. Highly highly recommended.

KFH came highly recommended to us by my sister, as they had done work at her house. We could not possibly be more pleased with the recommendation, as our experience with KFH has been awesome. We initially hired Steve to do a complete kitchen remodel, to include knocking down a wall, custom cabinets, flooring, etc. When we realized how good KFH is, we added a basement bedroom, bathroom and front closet remodel to our project. Steve was extremely patient with the overall process, putting up with our last minute add-ons and wishes. KFH has tremendous attention to detail and professionalism - - and it shows in their work. We found Steve to be very trustworthy, which is not a trait shared by all contractors. KFH is a family business that we absolutely plan to use again in the future. Complete 10/10. We hired Krause Family Homes to complete a mini remodel that included wallpaper removal, new drywall, ceiling refinishing, counters, backsplash, cabinet molding, lighting, painting, laminate flooring, and carpeting. We would rate our experience a 10/10! We have worked with numerous contractors over the years, and never have we been so thoroughly impressed as we were with Krause Family Homes! They were incredibly patient with my indecisiveness, helpful with suggestions, and trustworthy beyond belief! Their professionalism and precision to detail was off the charts! I have since been recommending Krause Family Homes to all of my friends and family. Krause Family Homes is definitely above all the rest!

KFH built our theater room. We had a few ideas on what we wanted but needed help designing it. Steve was able to take our vision from a few Pinterest pictures and design an awesome theater room that is beyond what we were expecting. We picked out colors and styles and they took care of the rest. They were reliable and kept the work area very clean during the project. The project was done ahead of schedule and under budget.

KFH did a complete remodel of our kitchen and dinette. While most kitchen remodels take months, ours took 10 days from the start of tear-down to move in. The work was top quality and the price was below what we had been quoted by companies using products of lower quality and needing far longer to complete the work. Quality work, trustworthy workers, amazing finished projects.

We don't have enough words to describe how amazing the service from Krause Family Homes was. I heard about them through their son Nate whom I worked with. We shared our vision with them for a deck in our backyard and they came out to our place to make sure our dream was possible. Once they got the permit, they executed it less than 48 hours; nothing short of perfection. It was exactly what we were looking for, they helped us pick the right quality products, and even offered to put in solar lights and a counter space to liven it up for entertaining. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a local business to support for their home renovations!

We’ve had Krause Family Homes do interior remodeling on three separate occasions: Bathroom remodel, Kitchen remodel and ship lap wall and wooden cornice boards.
