Wedum & Associates LLC is a boutique architecture firm celebrating 45 years of designing innovative commercial, residential, and store spaces. Our highest goal is to create beautiful designs that meet our clients’ aesthetic, functional, and economic objectives. Based in Aspen, Colorado and working throughout the West the firm’s design approach varies from classical to contemporary. Principal John Wedum is expert at working with clients to help define the character they’re looking to create, and then turning those visions into beautiful realities. Wedum & Associates approaches residential designs as an extension of the client. Each residence is a “classic concept” home, meaning that each home he creates is a unique design, not a replica of any particular style. The visual image and physical feel of the entire design are tied together, with specific detailing for each concept. Throughout the design process, costs are carefully managed. The firm works on projects of all sizes, collaborating with a team of trusted professionals who they have partnered with for many years. John is always the project lead, working hands-on with the client at all stages – from selecting a site, through the design process and drawing phases, into budgets and pricing, and through final supervision. Their team approach allows for feedback on ideas, development of options, and costs savings for the customer. They include the client, engineers, other consultants, contractors, and local craftsman as soon as possible to achieve this team process. John has a background in construction and real-estate, and has held licenses in both fields. He started his career in Aspen in the ‘70s, building and selling spec homes. His construction experience means he understands how homes are built, how the building process is carried out and what details drive costs up or save customers money. His real estate experience has taught him where to spend dollars for the highest return on investment, and keeps him on top of the latest trends in home and interior design. Wedum & Associates has always worked with alternative energy, including solar electric, air and water heat collectors, and other alternative energy systems. The firm has designed many energy-efficient homes using state-of-the-art insulation and construction systems.
