Richard Cormier and Wise Owl Joinery custom built a timber frame pergola for our backyard patio in July 2016. After consultations on site and at his workshop, Richard and his team drew up a complete set of plans that brought our ideas to life and allowed us to modify the proposed structure accordingly. Richard and his assistants built the pergola quickly and with great care, highlighted by a level of passion, professionalism, workmanship and an attention to detail that was outstanding. We are extremely pleased with the finished structure, and enjoy the new addition to our patio whenever we have a chance.

Richard built a beautiful privacy fence for us a couple years ago. We had a rough idea of what we wanted (based on a google image), and he was able to work with the idea and modify it into an elegant structure. We found him to be an intelligent and hard worker, completing the job faster than I had predicted. We were very pleased with the final result. If we need/want any timber frame joinery in the future, we would not hesitate to commission him again.

We appreciated the fact that the wood he used was sourced locally and fully dried. The workmanship and care that went into crafting each piece is evident, and we still admire it to this day! Richard also came and did a check-up about a year after it was installed, and has kept in touch with our family ever since. In 2011 I renovated our natural log cottage and had Wise Owl Joinery design and construct the timber frame portion of the reno. They were recommended to me by the people who built the log cottage. From the outset I could see that Richard had a passion for his work and a real eye for detail. From concept to completion, he kept me informed of the progress and even welcomed a visit to his shop where I saw firsthand the time and care that he put into his work. The framing was delivered on time and installed with as much care and precision as he took to create it. Richard has completed many beautiful projects for us over the years - porch framing, light posts, mantels, and stairs. He is one of the best in his trade, and also a wonderful person. He is thoughtful, considerate, and passionate about what he does.

We hired Wise Owl Joinery to build an outside pavilion for us and were exceptionally pleased with the workmanship during the build process and the final installation. We have spent many years landscaping our property with gardens and a water feature but we still needed one final piece to make our “Garden Dream” complete. When we first approached Richard with what we required, he showed us several plans and was very good about adjusting the plans to fit our needs. The detail in his work, the wood selection and the finished product were much more than we expected. At the time of the build, we were set to host a large garden tour of around 90 people. Richard said he could have it done on time.....Richard stayed into the evening on the night before to complete the job . Although we had this built a few years ago, Richard still stays in touch and will come in and check on the structure.
