Houzz Tour: A Super Model Case Study
Now that we've seen how to turn your home into a supermodel, I want to share with you an amazing model home in Texas decorated by Cristi Holcombe. Because everything is big in Texas, it comes to no surprise that this home is big on style and decorating ideas for your own home.
As you tour the house, notice that each room is styled in the latest decor trends. Neutral spaces infused with bold color is big this year. Orange is the dominate color here and makes appearances in the rug, curtains and accessories.
Let your imagination run wild when designing kids' rooms. The headboard was created from pallets Cristi received from other furniture shipments. Proves that a little ingenuity and creativity can save you money!
If you think white walls are boring, punch them up with color. The assortment of handcrafted pillows, upholstered headboard trimmed in purple ribbon, and the purple bed skirt take front and center against a blank white canvas.
What a glorious surprise to see yellow stripes on the ceiling. Painting the ceiling—sometimes called the 5th wall—adds as whole new dimension to the design.
Take a lesson in details: This room says "custom designed." From the coordinating drapes and bed skirt to the floral detail on the toss pillows, this guest room rivals any found in a boutique hotel.
Here is a view of the same room, this time facing the bed. Notice symmetry in the bedside tables, lamps, and the wall art! Perfectly balanced.
Without seeing the rest of the space, the wall decor indicates this room is a place for movies and entertainment.
Again, we see a repeat of the gray, orange and cream color palette. Repeating the color palette from another room in the house is a great way to create color flow.
Do you spot the trend in this photo? If you guess organic elements, you are correct. Unfinished wood, as in the coffee table and the lamp, is in showrooms everywhere now. I love how she's paired it with a fresh green. Makes it much more modern than rustic.
What a wonderful juxtaposition of rustic and refinement. Unfinished wood makes another appearance, this time in the master suite. The nightstand, figurines and mirror introduces a rustic element into the space. The upholstered headboard with nailhead trim and custom pillows add refinement.
