Some nice pics, but there's no way I see that second example, the one with the stone fireplace and the storage units, as being in any sense 'minimalist'. To me, that's a great example of a space that's under-furnished and over-accessorized ! ... Being, presumably, an advertising pic for the storage units, I daresay it serves its purpose, but the idea of living alone with my one chair and those overstuffed nick-nack shelves, makes me feel positively ill ! Love the room with the retro rug ! Three items, the sectional, the coffee table and the rug ... and you're done ! That's 'minimalism at it's best, in my mind, particularly when it still manages to look 'cozy' ... in a hip/retro/zen kind of way ! Thanks for the thought provoking pics and comments.

Square is not a natural shape. If you have square furniture angle it to soothe the eyes.
And don't make doggie sleep on the floor. He likes soft things, too.
